Under Drive Pulleys

Not much discussion about UDP for 2005-2009's. Does it affect anything other than the alternator? What about A/C? It's supposed to be 10HP to the wheels, pretty good for about $200. I seen comments that you can change the alt pulley to help, but doesn't that bring you back to stock in a way?

In summer time you may have to bump the a/c one more notch than normal. I didn't see the mod worth the gain to be honest. My buddy did the pullies, bbk throttle body, and frpp intake manifold and was lucky to gain 20hp if that. He didn't have his cams at the time but I still walked him with my car.

Both 4.10's and mine had lt's pro chamber, cams, cai, tune. That's it lol. He had the same minus cams and add the manifold, throttle body and pullies.

IMO mods Better spent elsewhere but your money man. If you were doing an all out n/a build then go for it but otherwise I wouldn't waste my time if it were me.

Re: Under Drive Pulleys

I'm not looking to waste money. I was more curious. I don't want to do something that causes other problems. I'd rather put that money towards cams, anyway.

They have been known to cause some problems that for sure.. But underdrive pullies are all opinion based anyway.. It's up to you. I would spend money else where..

What mods do you have so far? 200 bucks for 3-5 hp isn't worth it just buy a tuner that's 379 and that's 20hp

Agreed. The new 3 series made 8hp more than the 2 series. Would love to upgrade but will not until I buy a plate for the spray. Not drilling a hole in another intake due to hurting resale value lol. Planning on boost someday.

Not that I disagree.. I have a JLT myself.. but I know steeda and (one other CAI) cant remember which one, but anyway, both of them actually pulled out "slightly" better HP numbers. But we are talking 1 to 2 hp..

Against the new JLT? And 1-2 hp? If you run the same car a few times you'll get a few different numbers to. Spend an 200 for 1hp **** just get the under drive pullies haha

Lol yeah, it was done by some show on test drive (I think) 5 pulls with each CAI on it.. steeda and this other CAI (again can't remember) pulled consistently slightly higher numbers. Test was done right, I know that.

some people dont mind that extra $100 more for slight more HP.. I have a friend that would buy steeda/roush/etc valve stem caps if it gave any numbers to back it up! Lol

again not knocking steeda CAI.. I agree for the money you can't get better the JLT. But the numbers def show a slight favor towards steeda

Now I feel screwed. I have a KN cai. It was the first thing I got and before the SCT and before hoisting this website. Is it worth getting the newest JLT?
