Tuner

I have just bought my first mustang (06 GT) and I want to buy a tuner, if I were to buy a tuner off Craigslist of EBay and it has been used on a different mustang will it still work on mine

I don't believe so, it's programmed to their PCM, also you probably won't have the same mods

I just bought a SCT tune and JLT 3 series from brenspeed for 574 which is a pretty good deal

You may be able to use it. It locks in the vin number when you tune it. In order to use it on a another vehicle you must return the stored car back to stock. You can only do this 4 or 5 times before it locks out completely. This is for SCT and Bama uses SCT. It can only have one car tuned at a time.

If its locked out already them you're screwed.

It's a lot safer and you'll know what you're getting.

Or have them prove its unlocked/unmarried

I bought a JLT/SCT combo for 200 on eBay. Unlocked and ready to go!

Re: Tuner

I bought a DiabloSport tuner on e-bay several years ago- the seller promised it was unlocked and ready to go. Naturally it was not. I contacted Diablo, the smart-alleck tech representative laughed at me and told me I got what I deserved. Said they would not unlock any Ford tuners for any price. I sent the tuner to VMP Tuning, where they gave me a trade-in value toward a new SCT tuner.

The moral of the story- buy a NEW tuner, from somebody you can trust, ie; American Muscle/Bama, Brenspeed, VMP.

That's why you use PayPal, dispute it, and get your money back. No harm done.

SCT will reset them no matter what for $150 dollars.

There are lots of horror stories about "using eBay" I have never had any problems with that couldn't be taken care of. PayPal is a wonderful thing. I even bought some parts from Craigslist. Used PayPal, the guy lied to me about them. PayPal sent the money back to me (obviously took it back from him) I tried to contact the guy about it, but no answer. So I sold the parts and made money off of it!!

People are supposed to reset them back to normal (Cars & Tuner), before selling or turning in. Many people do not do these things. With that in mind, you can get screwed. So the best and safest thing to do is buy New, to avoid taking the chance.

Your link takes you to a tuner for a DIESEL engine, which is the only thing I've ever heard Bully Dog do.

Stick with a known entity, and the industry standard. 99% of the tuners use SCT so you will have much better luck with that.
