410s installed!!!! First impressions

Well I have 470 miles to go before I can give em hell, but I did get half throttle on them and it feels like its floored haha, it seems to be easier to drive, I got stuck in traffic and that seemed to be a PITA with my old gears but it's so easy to take off from a stop, doing 40-45 down the rode you kinda feel like you want to shift again when your already in 5th but that's because your so use to it shuddering in 5th around those speeds, avg gas mileage around town was 20.2 in traffic and I have a corrected speedo btw if that matters, can't give performance details yet but it feels like its going wanna boil the tires off the rim

Also I got the hurst installed at the same time, it's stiff and notchy and very short throws with a long lever, No noise in mine what so ever or vibrations and I didn't have the rubber pads installed between the shifter and lever, I guess it's all about how you install it

Yeah my 500 mile break end was about 495 miles short but it took me some getting used to on mine. A quarter inch of the gas pedal took off a lot faster than before leaving a crow hop feeling lol

I plan to have my 4.10s installed in 3 weeks..cant wait.
How many hours did they say the install took?
Labor rates may vary by location, but good mechanics should be able to do the work in a similar amount of time.

Since they were professionally installed and properly shimmed, probably not as big a deal for the 500. But patience is free insurance in this case.
I've got 3.55. Kinda wanting to get 3.73, but afraid it won't matter much and unsure of 4.10 since its a DD and 5 speed. I'll see how you like yours.

If the Hurst ever starts to make any noise here is what you do
Install 2 of the rubber shims
Spray the center bearing with som white lithium grease
Teflon tape the threads on the shift knob

Ya he locktited everything and greased every bushing, I'll see how long it last, I didn't install those 2 rubber shims either

I just put a steeda Tri-Ax in mine. It's not hard, much easier if you have access to a lift, but it can be done on jacks. Just make sure you have a little locktite for the driveshaft bolts. Did it in 2 hours, with minor complications.

Hows the height on the steeda? I passed that one up cause it looked like you don't get good leverage

The height is pretty good. I personally like the 2-3 shift. It's very smooth, very accurate. A bit tough to get into 1-2 and 5-R because it's natural position is center neutral. Its very stiff but for a fast shift on the 1/4 mile, it's what I need. The throw from front to back is also improved, quite a bit. Don't worry about leverage, it does it's job quite well.

I put the car thru its paces today, I didn't launch it hard tho but ya it pulled hard and stays in RPM 2-3 is easy with the hurst and second doesn't last long so that's good to be able to hit 3rd with some accuracy, I just need a monster tachometer and I'll be good, feels like your taking your eyes off the road when you glance at the RPMs

start practicing that 1 - 2 shift ,because when you launch hard you have to shift in about 1 sec , LOL

Does the Hurst shifter come with a boot or does it use the oem boot?
