Gears

Hello, quick questions my 06 mustang gt drives like a champ. Only problem I haven't figure out if any is when I go from park to drive or neutral to drive it takes a good 2 sec for the car to drive... Should this be a concern...
I'm asking cause on other make and models I drove once its on drive it reacts on the spot not 2 sec later...
Thanks in advance for any feedback

How many miles, and you drove other auto mustangs, you can't compare other makes and models

This is my first mustang... It has 59,000 miles... I was wondering if it's normal or not since I never drove other mustangs. Even though I been a mustang fan since I could remember

Has anyone else has any input on this. Is the delay a regular thing or should I be looking at repairs.

I think that's a little long, but I don't think u need need to look at repairs at the moment. If ur under warantee, have it checked, u may just need a fluid change or the fluid could be low or high for some reason. If the fluid is new and the level is correct, try an anti-slip additive and if that helps then u may need some repaires in the future. ..but then, maybe that's normal for that tranni.

You can't check the fluid on your mustang correct? But my old Lincoln with a 4R70W was kinda slow till I installed a shift kit, also if the fluid was low or really cold

Could also be the filter is nasty. What about if you go past Drive to 1?

From what I understand it's an idiot proof check. Fill it till it leaks. Wait till it stops. Done. Lol.

I would drain the fluid, it could be contaminated, or burnt, both of which could be bad signs. It also might just be low. A top up first, and if it's still slow, drain it and change the filter. Just make sure to inspect the old fluid and filter before tossing them for metal shavings, burning or chunks of stuff.

Lol I know ur joking! But to clarify never over fill ur tranni.
To the o/p the reason u check for metal shavings is so u know if ur gears are grinding too much. A little bit of metal dust on the magnet on the pan is normal. Also racing the car a lot will burn and subsiquently break down the tranni fluid.

Yup

---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:18 PM ----------

So, soon as u get home (coz ur engine has to be warm..well really the fuid has to be warm) cycle through all the gears then in park check the fluid level. If it looks dirty or smells burned then it DEFINATELY needs to be changed. If u got it new and never had it changed then u should change it (and the filter always).

Actually I'm not joking. The tranny is designed to be idiot proof. You can't over fill it. Check it out.

Re: Gears

Jayjay, have someone you know, check that out/drive it around the corner, to see if they feel the same, just in case you might be a liitle too sensitive.

Re: Gears

You guys need to read your owners books, The trans fluid must be checked COLD, if you have driven the car wait 30 min before checking fluid. All so there is NO dip stick, you check it like a manual.
