Cai issues

I just bought a C&L cai with predator tuner. I installed their 87 pump gas street tune for I only have exhaust and the cai. I was test driving after installing and at the end of the drive the check engine light came on. My question is what could it possibly be for. I don't have a scanner to figure ot what he code is for. I was wondering if the car is safe to drive. It does not run rough or anything. Could the o2 sensor be reading faulty because of the tune or is there a problem with the old Maf sensor being in the new cai. Please help. Thanks.

I'd get the code read at autozone and I assume it's something like the maf since you just messed with it

I had a dumb moment and remembered the tuner could run diagnostics and found that bank 1 and 2 were running lean. I cleared the codes and test drove again. No codes came up. Confusion is really setting in.

Yea flow is heading towards the throttle body. Also the holes for the screws only lined up one way. I will keep an eye out for the code. Also checked all connections and everything is good.

If you are running lean then it is likely that air is entering the engine at some point after the MAF. The most common error in installing a CAI is not seating the inlet to the bottom side of the throttle body. Since it is kind of a blind spot. Make sure it is snapped over at the bottom edge correctly.

Re: Cai issues

Why in the World are you running on a 87 Octane Tune? MOve it to 93 or 91, don't be cheap, your car will love you more in the long run. After all, it is a Mustang.

If you have the Diablo predator you can pull the codes yourself. Just go into the diagnostics section. When you find the code look it up online.

Re: Cai issues

Yes, I too would tune for at least 91 octane....Ford recommends that we run premium in our cars....at least that what the sticker says on my car when I got it and I ordered mine new!
