GT500 Front breaks only Brembo???

So today i decided to go to a dealership to possibly trade in my GT for a GT500 but then i noticed that the Front breaks where only BREMBO and the rear looked like regular Ford Breaks? Anyone Know why this is???

Guessing because standard GT brakes are inadequate for stopping that much weight and hp. As for the back brakes, it's probably due to cost and leaving room for the aftermarket to make money on upgrading them.

Rear brakes only do about 10-15% of stopping. But maybe not with ABS, not sure in that case.

So your saying the front is mandatory and the rear is optional? When dealing with high performance breaks?

Before ABS, fronts only did a small part of stopping, because if the rears stopped hard while turning, the whole rear end would slide around, just like when you pull up the hand brake. With ABS, I would guess the rears do more, since they don't lock up.

I'm pretty sure Shelbyperformance.com sells rear brake upgrades. So I don't see why the GT500 would have standard GT brakes. They do have a kit that use factory calipers but the rotors are 14" instead of the 12 or 13 that we have.
