Guys, I've got a 2005 Roush mustang GT, CAI, tune, 4.10 gears, Detroit truetrac differential, Roush offroad exhaust, X pipe. 48,000 miles garage queen. Had plans to keep her forever and add performance over time. Thing is, I just got my fiancée a 2012 v6 convertible and hell they're coming with 306hp now. On the fence as to wether to supercharge or cam what I have or trade up for 412 GT or cobra. Just hate freakin car note! I know chasing HP can be like spinning your wheels... Advice or thoughts? The Roush is in perfect condition and paid for..

U should kept it and put the money into it. No car notes, making monthly car payments suck.

Nice Tc x 4. What mods do you have? I figure about 10k and lighten her up some and I'll have a monster.

Roush TVS blower, headers, 475HP and you will smile all the way to the bank.

From what I've found and talking to my performance shop your best option is a blower. The other direction is racing cam or more extensive engine work.

True and if I'm honest I like the more retro look of the 05 vs. how futuristic retro the stangs are going lately. They're all nice but I like it more simplistic and old school. I'm going to plan on a blower and will look at the Roush. I just don't think a cam will keep me happy for long.

Re: To trade or not to trade.. That is the question.

I really can't make a recommendation on headers- I live in the Peoples Republic of California where headers are not allowed. If you stay with the well known brands like Hooker, MAC or JBA you wont go wrong.

Re: To trade or not to trade.. That is the question.

its a hard choice. I know for me I have considered a GT500 or new GT... but I just dont want to pay a car payment and the only car that would really make me happy would be a new GT500 and I dont want to fork out 60+ for one now lol.

the main key is not to settle, if you cant get what you want just save for it~ if you can get what you want then thats fine.

I have wanted a GT 500 for a long time and have considered it. 10 years ago I'd have just done it. Older and wiser I guess. The thing I hate is yah 2011 is greater than 2005 and then 2016 will be greater than 2011 and 2022 will beat 2016 yah know? Just got to be happy with what you have. I could put a Roush 2300 blower on it with probably 475 HP to the wheels and then buy a sport bike that will beat anything on 4 wheels and still have a ton of money left over rather than a cobra...

Haha it's to much to explain but to sum it up the characters were upset that those excessively loud harleys would ruin a perfect day and tried to get the word *** definition changed to Harley owners and other obnoxious things like BMW owner who cut you off on the highway

from personal experience the more you modify a vehicle the more headaches you WILL have and the more trouble the car WILL give you. It can cause down time, more money to be spent, you could even end up blowing up the motor... if you are not prepared for the level of stress that can come with doing big modifications and you dont want the risk of having to replace the motor and spend a ton on it then you may wish to not go the supercharger route.

Thats why I went with my 03 cobra, spend 2k-3k on mods and I am happy at my power level, didnt have to get crazy or anything and its all I need. Its just hard to invest that kind of cash, have no warranty, and if something goes wrong you are really screwed plus the resale is not helped by a supercharger 90% of the time so you basically are throwing 80% of that money away

Re: To trade or not to trade.. That is the question.

How many miles are on the Roush? Trade it in for a nice down payment and get yourself a low low payment.....mine is only $289 a month with $15k left. You can always pay more than the note each month and if you do get in a bind you can just pay the original payment for that month. With these cars you can have 450+ NA horsepower.

I have a question to the guys w sc's. Can the psi b adjusted to where your not putting down the HP all the time. If not I'm thinking bottom end , heads, cam and intake. Just not liking the head choices. Then SC.

I've thought of the same thing trading in mine once it paid off and getting a 03-04 cobra instead of going newer because I love the look of the terminators and they have all the power i would need after small mods like Cai and exhaust. I would have to supercharge to get that out of my gt and then its like spending over half the amount i payed for the car to get it how fast I want it. When I could save that and sell my car and put it all towards a cobra. All end with what you want more I guess
