Engine noise

I'm having a little engine noise on top. It has 40k so I really shouldn't be having any. Should I switch to a heavier weight oil? I'm using 5 20. It's not really a knocking. Idk if it could have blockage or bad oil pump. Has anyone else had this problem?

Don't change your oil weight. It can screw up your variable cam timing VCT and possibly cause some more serious issues.

5w20 works just fine in these cars. Just make sure you've got a good oil level. As for the thumping, when does it happen? At idle, hard acceleration? Also what octane of fuel are you using? You could try a higher grade.

Oil level is good just changed it bout 500 miles ago and double checked it. It's at an idle. And I run premium gas and only BP gas. But with all this bad gas we have now I might need to clean it out with something. What's everybody think about sea foam or a good fuel injector cleaner?

Gas already contains detergents, and you only have 40,000 miles right, so I wouldn't use any additive

Had the same issue when I bought mine.. Sounds like a small tick on the passengers side back of motor..

NOTHING is wrong.. Don't worry about it.. It's actually the cam phasers.. 3v are known for this.. It's will eventually go out.. Needing to be replaced.. But it's probably a LONG ways from that..

When they needs to be replaced you will know it.. It will be a very loud tick.. And it will get louder when you rev past 1200 rpm.. Until then.. It's fine..

Wanna fix for it now.. buy louder exhaust!! Lol

Flowmasters are kinda garbage for our cars.. For some reason they don't sound very good IMO..

But yeah man.. Don't worry about.. Congrats on the new car!

I've got flowmasters on mine, and it's okay. I would prefer Roush though.

Check out JBA, or just search YouTube for desired sound.. American muscle has tons of videos to listen to
