When I took my car in to get everything done the guy gave me back the tuner with a cd and a grey USB and I lost the grey USB and cd well my son lost it just wondering the important part what the tuner actually needs is the tuner itself right

You do need that USB cable.. To update the tuner when you get new tunes. The software itself isn't that big of a deal, as SCT will probably send you the software free of charge. Cable can be bought for cheap anywhere..

The SCT uses a USB printer cable and you can download the software and how too manuals from SCTs website. No worries

Re: Lost tune cd help !

silversky,
yes, was asking you... hoping to talk to someone that knows a little more about using the X3 than just downloading a custom tune. updating firmware, user adjustables, that sort of stuff.

I was told to discard the CD from my tuner and told to go to SCTs website to download the software

Re: Lost tune cd help !

its really easy to move tunes from your computer to the tuner. (say the tuner emailed you a new tune)

You need SCT's software to do it, its free get with the tuner on what version to download and where to download it from.

You can also get a file to load for data logging (real time) which is neat if you have a netbook or laptop you can take with you. Great little tool to fine tune the car or just double check a few parameters to ensure its doing its job. The tuner should be ready to review these and sent you a file to load (this sets the params to data log).

Re: Lost tune cd help !

hey silversky,
i am gonna play around with it first myself... i got the stock tune back in, the sct updater installed on pc, and will download my stock tune to pc and try the firmware rev.; then i'll go out and try the tune again and check it all out.

will get back later with findings or questions if i have any then.
thx!
