who would win?

This guy pulled out of the mall in a g8 gt next to me turning the opposite way and right before he turned out he looked at me and smiled then turned out punched it and kicked it sideways for a second. Thought about following him for fun but didn't.

I'm guessing with his 6.0 he would win but he is heavier so would i keep up some what or would it be a blowout?

That would not longer be stock to stock. It's now modded to stock. But with a full exhaust and a good tune you would probably be close if not even. was it a GT or GXP?

---------- Post added at 08:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 PM ----------

nevermind just re read the first post... GT. probably would walk it actually. At that point it depends on driver mod

It'd be close. Believe they are rated around 350-360hp? Not sure about the torque but they also almost 4,000lbs. So I guess it's similar to a charger r/t?

Def be upon the driver.
Would be close.
Actually I think he would get a small jump off the line. He has more weight so his traction would be better. And more torque. The Mustang is lighter so it would seem that it could catch a G8.

I know axleback isn't performance and a Cai with a tune can help a little in performance.

Don't they have the same 6.0 as the gto with 400hp 400tq

Re: who would win?

Not in the G8, the GXP was just over 400 (I think 404) with the LS3

Wow that sucks. Idk why they would downgrade the power for the g8 it basically replaced the gto

Re: who would win?

6.0 GTO was a 2 door sports car (can we call it a pony car). G8 is a family sedan, or maybe even a 4 door coupe as Mercedes would call it, just with more power. Similar to Charger/Challenger, or Mustang/Crown Vic. Not the same motor and tuned more to the prospective buyer

Just looked it up gxp is 415/415 so I guess they both had less power then I thought can't believe the g8 gt only has 55 more horsepower then our 4.6 and it has 6.0. Go Ford

+1. Look at the new 5.0. Makes just as much power as the 6.2 Camaro. Bigger is not always better. Lol

Re: who would win?

or at the least a more powerful 4.6. Don't get me wrong I have all the respect in the world for you 4.6 guys. A red 4.6 2001 GT is what lit my fiery passion for mustang... I'll never forget that thing. back on topic, how come the 5.0 is 82 hp/L but the 4.6 is only 65. even if they got it to 72 hp/L it still would've been far more competitive.

The g8gt isn't that fast. I get them in my mildly modded mach 1 (quicker than a s197gt with tune intake exhaust and 4.10) but the gxp is a different animal. That race comes down to the driver.

What does your mildly modded Mach run on the 1/4?

Haven't had a chance to track it with mods. Bought it last october and on a 6° celsius track on 245 all season rubber I ran 13.9@103 I think my 60' was 2.4?@ 5200'. That was the day after I bought it so I wasn't super comfortable. I'm intake, tune, some head work, shifter, and 275 sumuitmos now. Will be doing exhaust and rear control arms before the track opens here in late may. Hoping for high12s...

Haha so you will be even with me, I ran a 13.2 with gears and tune and CAI on 235 tires now I have exhaust and 15x8 drag wheels and 275 Micky thompsons so ya bring that Mach to Chicago to race >8)

Also I had to race into a 25-35 wind gust, if that makes a difference in the 1/4

On the s197forums guys are hitting mid to high 12s w very little mods... It's more about the rear suspension set up... Adj Panhard, lca, Uca, cai, tune... Some had long tubes... I can hook up for ****... If I launch at 1500 rpm I spin through second if I'm full throttle... If I feather it I stop springing half way through 2nd...

So I think you will take him if u hook

So I looked it up cause I'm intrested in havin some fun with the blue 04 gto that lives by mean can't wait to meet up with him. anyway the gto and g8 gt have the same stock time 5.1 0-60 and 13.5 stock times. The gxp is only 4.9 and 13flat. Some your stock stang will keep up mayb lose if u don't drive well. But if u get yer long tube cai and tune and some tires u won't have a prob unless that g8 gets some work done aswell lol

Tune in an auto makes a big difference, changes the line pressure, shift points and tq lock up
