Question regarding PCM flashing

This may sound stupid, but...........................
I installed a C&L "racer" CIA over the Holidays and flashed the PCM with an 87 oct costum program from Evolution Performance. The power gain, according to the seat-o-pants meter, was impressive. Now I would like to flash it with 91oct tune. Do I have to reload the OEM program befor re-flahsing with the 91 oct. program?

Thanks
Helmut

Re: Question regarding PCM flashing

Most programers will require a return to stock format before stepping it up a level, I would plug in the programer and see what it says.

Re: Question regarding PCM flashing

I have the SCT X3. Yes my sig is accurate.
I had it up on the lift for an oil change (royal purple) over the holidays and discovered that the previous owner not only installed the magnaflow cat-back but also installed an X-pipe (I yhink it's Pypes but could not swear to it)

Re: Question regarding PCM flashing

Got my answer from Evolution performance last night. With the X3 programmer you have to restore the factory program before loading another one.

I tried the the 87 fist, ran pretty good (vast improvement over stock). Now I am running the 91 tune. Performance is pretty impressive but seems to be in two steps (above 3500rpm is get like an extra umph). I did not buy the 93 tune but have the "91 extreme" but did not load it yet...........................
