Drivetrain messed up????

I was leaving the gym, driving normal btw and I got to the light to turn on a main road, and while wait at the light I heard a sort of loud metal clunk and I think one more as I was driving, then I get to the next light and hear this, I thought it was a jackhammer at the nearby construction site, but nope, the noise goes away when the clutch is pressed in and I believe it makes the noise regardless of being in gear or not. I guess do you think its the clutch or transmission? I kind of hope its the trans cause at least that's under warranty and secondly what should I put back to stick before I bring it to the dealer

Here's the video with the noise

From what I hear it sounds like the motor is clunking.... And the dealer will throw a fit because u have new gears... 4:10s and slicks r rough on stock tranys and rear ends... And they know why u put 4:10s in (if they find out u have them) and they will also be able to tell u have or had a custom tune... Might be a problem

Sux, I'll post your video on a local mustang club site to see if anyone will know that sound

If it was the motor why would it go away when I press in the clutch? And how would the dealer know I have 410s? They won't check that, I called my mechanic he said he doubts its the throw out bearing and says could be something internal in the trans

If it goes away with the clutch in it may be something with pressure plate or flywheel? I figured I would give you options. Im no expert on trannys. There is a TSB for rattling from something in the tranny.

Do you feel anything in the shifter or the pedal? And what about when you are driving?

Ok thanks for the help, I drove it some more and it doesn't make the noise in second while engine braking, but as soon as you give it gas, like very little just enough to take the load off the trans it starts again

---------- Post added at 01:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 PM ----------

I'm going to check the exhaust too, but if it is the throw out bearing, what clutch should I get cause I'll replace that while the trans is out

It does not sound like a bad TOB. It would not be that loud. At least when mine was bad it did not sound that clunky. It sounded more like a slightly cracked open window on the freeway. That sound you have is very loud and very clunky. Sounds like something is loose within the clutch engagement system. When you engage the clutch the sound goes away like something is holding it still. Hence why I said pressure plate or flywheel.

Heres some more news, if it's in gear and I'm at parking lot speeds letting it engine brake it doesn't make the sound and then when I give it slight gas to take the load of the trans it makes the noise again

I can't hear the noise on my phone. Try jacking car up an turn wheels , possibly a chipped tooth on a gear. If so u might b able to feel it, but I'm thinking trans or like other guy said pressure plate.

I know u have a warranty, but for sum reason they won't fix it. Get a Ford manual and do it your self. Manual trans are really not that complicated if u can follow simple directions . Good luck bud, guess I'll have to wait to see what that bad boys gonna run this yr with the drs .

Exactly what I'd say. My dealer never disclosed the mods on my car to me.

Sorry I've been busy, working 12 hour shifts at work, but if they don't replace the throw out bearing under warranty, I guess I'll just upgrade my whole drivetrain

Dealer today, a tech drove it and convinced its something bad in the transmission it self, so they are going to drop the trans, good thing I got the extended warranty. But we will see if its really the trans in a bit

---------- Post added at 09:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:35 AM ----------

Also what's a good clutch, I'm going to replace it if they drop the trans…. I'm think Ram HDX stage 2 and I'll just resurface the flywheel

Update.......
Trans is out, they will rebuild it Monday, mean while I bought a CenterForce dual friction clutch to replace my factory one, I've only heard good things about CenterForce from friends and online, you look up Spec and every other post is something bad, plus I didn't have to wait for shipping since I live in Joliet which is a big race car area we have speed shops every where and I was able to walk in a purchase it right then and there which is always a plus instead of FedEx busting your balls

So what was the answer on the tranny?

Something came loose or broke, they won't know for sure till Monday when they open up the trans, it's already on the bench, out of the car, so I assume if it was something simple like a throw out bearing or pilot bearing they would of seen it by now
