I get 17 and 23-26 mpg on the highway and I drive just a TAD on the faster side. My 06 was 14.9 a year ago (I think). As far as modular engines go I've had a 04 and a 06. If you are on a budget then get a new edge, if not get a 05 and up. The 99-04 cars are getting pretty cheap now and performance parts are cheaper and easier to come by IMO. If i was in your shoes I would get a 05 and up UNLESS you count the good ol 4 valve cars 03-04 cobra or Mach 1 specifically

I would try to 06 or newer. Nothing against 05, but they had some problems with instruments and other issues. Usually the second or third year of a new body style is better for having fixed issues.

As a GT owner and a 3v guy, im already to part ways with this and get a new 5.0, you'll be happier with saving for something nice and not rushing to just get a v8, cause there is a difference. WAIT trust me

Car are being made faster, I seen a 370z run a 12.8!! Today you really want a 14 sec 2v, or a mid 13 sec 3v, why not a mid 12 4v 5.0 haha

Theres some good deals right now on 01-04 mustang you can get a nice one with low miles for under 8k or a new 5.0 for 23,000 not everyone can afford a new 5.0 but from going from a v6 to any year Gt would be a huge pick up you would like, I'm perfectly happy with my 01 stang if your worried that much about 1/4 times buy a drag car

Trust me, once you get a GT your going to want to make it faster, your going to spend thousands of dollars to get a 2v to run a constant 13 and that's only 13s at best and you'll lose all gas mileage benefits one you throw a bunch of mods at it and you'll lose your reliability too and you'll be stuck with these slow out dated mustang that the new v6s are beating all because you couldn't wait, if money is a factory what's wrong waiting a year and saving your money. I'm not trying to trash talk mine and older stangs but be real the new 5.0s can run 12.5s stock, just watched it happen today

I understand what your saying but a 5.0 is 23,000 compared to mine that is around 8-10k I have ram air hood cai 70mm throttle body combo custom Bama tune headers x-pipe borla tips and lowered 2" my gas mileage is really good all the mods helped it and I run 13s but I'm not really worried about time if I was I would get a drag car for half the price of a 5.0 I don't think that's bad

Where do u live I never see 5.0 or 23k ahaaha seriously cheapest eve seen is 34k and that's with 70k miles and prob beeat up bad. Dude for 20k easy and realistic u can get a real nice 3v put 5k into it sc and things and woop on a 5.0 no prob. Of course unless the 5.0 got some work done. Point is to make a 5.0 wich those motors r amazing and ba faster than a blown 3v yer sopending 40k. I have never seen a 5.0 for 23k. Plus u don't have the amazing body of the 05-09 imo

---------- Post added at 10:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 AM ----------

or spend say 12k on a 01 blown new edge and woop on the 3vs juz depends how much u got to spend. And dudes seriously this guys got a old v6 he's gonna love any gt he gets

A blown 2v could probably only beat Stock 3vs or lightly modded ones

If he's got almost 30k for one then go ahead and get one I have no note so why put my self in that just to have a car that is 1.5 secs faster than mine when most people that drive mustang for a DD don't really car about times it seems like he's not wanting to spend that kind of money he just wants a v8 just giving him my opinion on it all

That's what I'm trying to stat myself isn't really worried about 1/4 miles mine is fast enough if I'm that into 1/4 times I would by a drag car it's all about how much money he wants to spend from the sounds he's not looking to spend 20-30k I went from a v6 to a v8 and he will love the pick up it has over the v6 no matter what 8 he goes with

Instead of boost the 4.6 why not drop in a 5.0 in your car for about 8k
