Transmission problem

Have an 05 GT..120,000 miles transmission has been actin up lately..when driving the shifting has been givin a kick when shifting...any idea what this could be?? I've been told maybe it could be the fluid but called my local ford dealer and they said the fluid should be good until 150,000 miles...any truth to this?? Please giv me info on both questions thanks...

Re: Transmission problem

First of all I don't believe that any vehicle lubricant is good for 150k except for some types of coolant. secondly is it auto or manual. From what you are saying it sounds auto

Re: Transmission problem

I think in large part its supposed to be them trying to make a "low maintenance vehicle" so I don't doubt they told you that. Best thing I can tell you to do is take it to the dealer and have them look at it

Have you checked your fluid level? Sometimes in an automatic transmission the fluid level can get low and that does make the transmission act up

I don't think the fluid level is low that was supposedly the reason why Ford dropped in the sealed transmission... to eliminate leaks. But I have an 07 auto and mine started doing this at 76000 miles. As far as Ford yeah they tell you the fluid is good for 150k miles but they don't tell you to replace the transmission screen every 50k miles. But in order to change the screen you have to flush the fluids :-\. Save yourself from a tranny disaster and get both screen and fluid changed regardless off your milage!
