16,500 for a ford mustang gt premium???

Hey guys going to look at pictures of the GT at the dealership today since its at another lot a "Sister" lot. The dealer says he wants to sell me the 2006 Ford Mustang GT Premium for 16,500 dollars. The car has 46,000 miles and the dealer claims it was "babied" by the owner. I have 4,000 dollars as a down payment and am worried I'm over paying....what should I do?

The guys in the 05-09 section could most likely tell you if that a good price. But I would offer like 14,500 and go from there.

Sure they are.....we had a frail old man come to our last dyno day with a Termi. First pull was 599whp and he drove it off like a Cadillac.

Re: 16,500 for a ford mustang gt premium???

the dealer has no clue who owned it or how it was driven. Research on NADA and kbb.com to find a fair dealership price. Research the car as well and look over it VERY good for any damage etc and how well it was maintained.

Don't pay what they're asking? Don't get caught up in the monthly payment amount, they will screw you that way. The best way is to get financing from a bank or credit union. Then you get a sight draft check which you fill out for the agreed price. Then based on the amount your loan payment is calculated. It will have a predetermine range. This will allow you to negotiate the final price and nothing else. Decide your max before going in and stick to it. Walk away if necessary, you can go back.

I don't know about babied, but my stang is kept in the garage, not driven in the winter anymore, for the last 4 years, and is very well taken care of. Being that it's a 2007, is immaterial and I feel it's worth upwards of $20,000.

don't really know if that's fair or not...but, but...now the fun begins and the value should go up in my opinion. if you are a gearhead then you will believe like i do that any upgrades i do bring the value of the car up...at least to a certain degreel. i've sunk in quite a bit into my 07 gt premium and i feel it's worth at minimum at least $20k. i just turned 40k on the odemeter so that also helps i suppose.

Re: 16,500 for a ford mustang gt premium???

im having a hard time trying to sell mine for 15k, i would offer them 14.5 cause if you bought it for 16.5 tax and title and etc... you would be very upside down.

Mods will ALWAYS decrease value. But I know what you mean. Someone always enjoys a car they don't have to mod themselves.

NADA is about 17,100 for an 06 GT. Retail obviously.

Average retail here with that kind of miles is 19,000 so a good amount above good below. Sell it privately, Ask $22,991 take no less than 17,500. You should be able to get $20,000.

Sorry didn't read the first page, but 16,500 isn't bad. As I said above the 07-09 premiums go for nearly 19,000k on average with 35,000 or less miles. Make sure it wasn't driven hard.

I paid $17,988 for my 2006 GT Premium with 14,000 miles 6 months ago:

Probably not your average deal though.

Snagged my 06 from a high end Bimmer dealership who didn't want it on the lot in a new wave of BMWs.

It ran me 13 thousand when it had 38 or 37 thousand miles, unmodded, garaged, chip/dent free, new tires and a new cold air intake. (Both of which I requested.) I feel as if my deal was ridiculous though.

Got mine for about 18k with some mods ( that was a big plus for me ) had just under 30k miles on it. i feel like i got a good price on it i plan on keeping it forever. already spent a lot on mods tho. Once you get started with the mods its hard to stop lol

I bought my 06 GT for 16,300 it was worth every penny. Givin it had $3,500 dropped into the front end body kit, CAI, and exhaust so I feel as if I came out on top. I've also recently added about $2000 worth of stuff to it. Ready to get it put on and back!

not till you look at it then decide these are things to look for. Pull the dipstick check visually inspect it color and smell. Go over the body interior and make sure everything works. If you find a scuff or blemish in the paint point it out. This tells them you mean business. After that start the car listen for tapping or a slight knocking sound. That usually indicates head problems. Then drive it everything should be smooth and quiet. No clunks or any other noises good luck and have fun ( I wrote this for others to see what to to look for)
