I need some Virtual Help..

My 06' is an Automatic and here is the problem. The other day i went to a burger shack, I had my Mother's Fat-Ass Pug with me. when the burger was brought out to me the dog came in an attempt to get some food and in the process she stepped on my Automatic shifter. Well the black tracking for the shifter popped out of place and i was stuck..i couldn't even put the car in Drive because the slider was all jacked up. after about 30 minutes of fiddling with it i finally got it to snap in just enough to get my car into drive. Its not fixed..in fact its probably f*cked for like. I will attach a picture, but i'm wondering how exactly would i go about fixing this? my assumption would be either take apart the entire unit, if that's the case does anybody have a 'How To'? is it even fixable?

Better yet, lock the dog in the car and push it in the lake. That's 2 problems solved.

But seriously. The way I always learn how to do something, is by taking it apart and documenting everything. You might be able to realign the slide.

Re: I need some Virtual Help..

First of all, what the hell was a dog doing in your Mustang????? Second, if you remove the shifter, and gently push up on the plastic parts, they should just pop into the tracks.
