auto to manual

Really bored of my auto tranny. I wanna sell my car and get one with a manual. Anyone have major issues with the manual in our body or are they just as good as the auto?

I haven't heard much about our years, but I think you should be safe. Just avoid 2011 manuals.

My trans went out at 44,000 miles and my buddies went out at 60,000 and I heard some even fail with way less miles. And a lot of people on the fourm here and my local car club have a grind in the 1st-2nd under heavy acceleration and thats how it starts before it goes out

It's not computer controlled at all so I'd say no, maybe a tune

My manual likes to lock me out of second sometimes and the occasional grind, it also feels a bit clunky but I still love it, mines an 08 with about 25k now

Yes, most 05-09 mustang owners complain because it feels "clunky". For some reason our cars don't have a very smooth manual ride. But it's not bad..

What's wrong with the 2011 manuals? Mine runs just fine. What issues have you heard of that would make you want to avoid it?

Despite your unfortunate experiences, the 5 speed tranny on pre '11s has been very tough for most people.
