Tuner question

Hey folks, if you buy a used car and are not sure about the history, if I buy a tuner how do I know if the guy maybe left a tune in it and if he did will that cause me grief?

You can take it to the dealer and have it reflashed.

Thanks good to know but will it cause issues if there is a custom tune in there and I try and flash a new tune?

Not 100% , but I think the new tune will over ride it. I been having tune issues and bbr told me that.

If its like my tuner (diablo sport) it will require you to download the stock tune to the tuner the first time you use it. If you don't have the original tune you probably won't be able to use a new tuner. So a reflash from ford will probably need to be done.

I just purchased jlt series 3 CAI and SCT tuner from brenspeed my car had a Ford racing CAI when I bought it and of course they didn't give me the tuner. Does anyone know how much the reflash to factory tune costs from the dealer?

Just call and ask. They should be able to tell you.

Have your tune ready for the jlt cause your car with not run without it. It will stutter and eventually die with out the tune.

I'm shur brenspeed will send you the stock tune for free after doing business with them. I'd like to think they would anyway.

I don't see why not. I think they have been very helpful in that regard in the past.

Re: Tuner question

just visit a nearest auto parts shop and let them examine it and then ask for suggestions on how much is the reflash to factory tune.

If you want to be 110% sure here is what you must do.

Buy a tuner and custom tune for your mods
Take to the dealer, the car must be re flashed to stock
Retune with new tuner and tune.

This will save you all of the guess work
