Cats with O2 turned off?

Ok, heres the theory. Catless loses some torque. O2 sensors constantly mess with the engine. Therefore... what happens when you just turn off the O2 sensors via tuner? Do you keep torque and gain a little from the engine ignoring the adjustments for O2 or is it unnoticeable or does it screw with the engine? Could be good or nothing. Anyone try this?

You lose torque from the lack of.backpressure, not the O2 sensors.

I have the same problem. I just put an offload h pipe on and don't like the torque loss at all. I didn't think it would be as noticeable as it is so I'm probably gunna throw the cats back on this weekend.

That's the whole point. You keep your stock cats, but turn off the O2 sensors, thus keeping the engine from making adjustments to compensate for the O2 sensors.

Keep your exhaust and get some 4:10 gears.

Why can't anyone ever read the actual original post?

Ah I got you. No I don't see it doing any good. The only viable reason for cutting off the sensors is to trick the computer into thinking everything is fine

Re: Cats with O2 turned off?

I know with my tune from Brenspeed they turn off the 02s with every tune if you have cats or not .So it's not going to hurt anything turning them off. I didn't notice a difference when I had them turn them on to get through emissions testing.

My thought was that the computer was making some adjustments to the engine to make sure the O2 levels were acceptable.

Apparently turning them off has a very little effect on engine performance.

Thanks guys.
