Staggered or Spacers??

I'm buying new rims soon. I have nice Nitto tires (235/50/18) with 80% to 90% tread.

So my question is should I buy new 18x9 rims and get spacers for the rear?

Or new 18x9/10 rims and just fork out the cash for new tires?

I let discount tire talk me out of staggered wheels, because of the rotation factor. Big mistake, no one rotates tires on a mustang, they just buy new rears.

Re: Staggered or Spacers??

I do have the "Staggered" setup on mine, and yes that ries rotation thing is not important, the look is Excellant. My Nexen tire setup is 245/30/22-Front, and 295/25/22-Rear. I love it, take a look in my pictures.

If you have 4 of the same tires you might as well just get spacers for now. Then later on buy wider rear tires. And I don't know if you can put a 235 on a 10" wheel without it pulling out the side wall.

Do you mean the spacing? The rears are 11, maybe 10.5, unsure. Fronts are either 8.5 or 9.

That sounds like an awesome set up.
How do you like the19"s? And did you find it harder to find harder 19" rims and tires?
Thanks

I meant "did you find it more difficult to find 19", rims and/or tires. Or price wise, way more expensive or reasonable"
Thanks

Staggered!!

I just went from a staggered 20 x 9 / 10 set up to an 18 x 8.5 / 9.5 set up and i love the staggered set up. looks great, and grips great. just save the second two tires for when the first two wear out. as far as rotating your tires, just do as my tire shop does and rotate left to right.

Well I bought the wheels on craigslist for $500 but I well say this the price between 18's and 19's is higher about $1400 for a set of new BFG KDW

22's nice for a show car but not for performance. I think the biggest you should go is 20 inch on these stangs without it looking too over the top.

Re: Staggered or Spacers??

Well on this I'm using both..lol! I've got staggered 20's and I use spacers on front and rear. As for rotating, you can't do that with directional tires anyways. So to each their own and Mustangs rule!!

Re: Staggered or Spacers??

I generally don't mention my Wheels size often, because of Smart@$$ people that feel they have all the knowledge and know how of the world, it goes down to preferrance, No they do not handle bad, they are fine, YES it is a loss in HP. But I'm not on here/out there trying to say I have the FASTEST CAR in the World. The conversation came up about Staggered Wheels and Sizes, not who has the fastest car and the smallest tires that make it the fastest car inthe whole wide world. You geniouses go on and find yourself some 10" wheels, go time test yourself and show us all how baddest, fastest you are.

You are right and the only one who mentioned that fact of information.

How many of y'all run directional tires? Neither tire shop around me sells them and they laughed at me and said poor guy when I came in with my 20s running directional tires.

Also why would you put spacers on staggered rims, just curious?

Any performance tire worth it's salt will be directional.

18s, I wanted to stay with my 20s but the ride quality with 20s was terrible. I love these extremes though, they stick like crazy and the ride comfort is fantastic.

Your current extremes are directional? If so they all are I'd say.

I don't think so, they said I could rotate them left to right, which should mean they are not directional. I know staggered directional tires means no rotating at all.

yeah you can rotate the directional tires from front to back if they are the same size all around on the side of most directional tires there will be am arrow or some type of design indicating the direction the you're should spin in

Re: Staggered or Spacers??

As far as I know any hi-po tire is directional. Look at side wall there will be an arrow on it dictating which way is rotation. My Nitto's are rotational. The reason I use spacers is because of the brake upgrades that I have done. Yes you can rotate from front to rear if all your rims are the same size, as mine are staggered I cannot do that. So, it makes me keep my front end aligned and the tire pressure correct so as to get the most out of my front tires.
