2012 mustang v6= HORRIBLE

So my friend copped a 2012 grabber blue mustang v6 and I locked my keys in my trunk and couldn't get them out anytime soon (2007 GT vert) do he offered me to drive his car and I was excited to see how it ran...... I was shocked and amazed at how it felt. Nowhere near the power I feel in my s197 I couldn't feel the 300+ horsepower WHATSOEVER. I can see what all the hype is about them, the exhaust is TERRIBLE doesn't have a throaty sound at all it's like an import.

V6 will never be like a v8 no matter how much HP they get out of it. I've driven a 2012 v6 stang and felt the same way you do about it lol.

It depends what you like. You can throw an exhaust on there and it will sounds throaty. I test drove and '11 the other and I fell in love. But that's just me. I love the way it shifts, shorter throws and you can hardly feel it. Whereas I feel like my '10 drives rougher. The exhaust is very quiet but again that can be easily changed. Did he rip on it at all for you to feel the power or was he just cruises? I didn't get a chance to do that so I can't make any comments about the power aspect.

They are plenty fast and they are good cars. I just can't go without that v8 "feel"

Power and weight is power and weight. What you guys are not feeling is the less torque they put out. Torque is what gives you that fast feeling, even in a slower car. having much less torque (40+ lb/ft) is what makes it FEEL slow. HP also peaks higher so you are running farther for it.

The S197 is still quicker but the V6 is quicker than it feels.

I drove a rental from hertz. It was automatic, but FOR A V6! it was pretty impressive. Yes, my S197 would make it look silly, but between the decent performance and the awesome MPG (I easily got over 30 HWY) I can see how some people would like it. I'll stick to a souped up V8 though.

I was gonna buy a new v6 but decided to go with a 2007 GT because of the torque. Plus the sound is much better. My 2006 V6 sounded awesome for a V6. I got many compliments on it. The new 3.7 sounds like a European engine. No muscle tone at all. But the 30 mpg is awesome lol.

Yeah I agree. I was going to by a 2012 V6, test drove it and then test drive a 2010 GT they had for the same price. No comparison IMHO. Still those MPGs would be nice.

I don't see how he rips on it, all he is saying is it blows going from a V8 to a crappy V6. Idk who buys a mustang with a V6 anyways....

i own both a 12 5.0 and a 12 3.7. and i also owned a 08 3v that was supercharged. and sold it bc it just cant compete now days bought a 5.0 instead. my wife drives the 3.7 and after you put in 3.73's and some boltons in is just as quick as a 3v gt

SC 3V will be faster than a 5.0. Stock obviously. At that point it is modded and can be made to compete easily, as any other heavily modded car.

I do think the 5.0 has made leaps and bounds over the 3V. These cars are all plenty fast. Only reason I did not get the 5.0 was simply price. They are gradually getting more and more expensive. 06 GT could be had for 25XXX. 2011 GT 5.0 could be bad for 26XXX ish. The 2013s are 32k+.

yes but with simple boltons and a tune my 5.0 is alot quicker than my supercharged 08 was. my cousin has a paxton 2200 at 10psi with full exhaust and hotrod cams and only put down 430/440 he was a little disappointed.

That's still around 80 plus HP more than your 5.0. And no way are you getting that with a tune and bolt ons.
On the other hand a charge supercharged 5.0 would crush those numbers.

1/4 mile times to compare?

Brenspeed 8 PSI Kit puts down 430-440 Paxton. Just like any SC car, you can swap a pulley and crank it up. It is difficult to compare FI cars to stock card.

I was comparing you cousins 440 to a stock '12 5.0 which puts down about 360-370 to the wheels. I may have misread your post, I thought you said your 5.0 is faster than your cousins. Don't get me wrong, the 5.0 is beast but a well modded 3V is also.

the 05-09 are about the same feeling to me as the 11+ V6~ sure they have more low end and are a bit faster but not by much.

yes they are as i said i had a 2008 roush 427r which was modded. i traded it in on my 5.0. and no im not faster than my cousin is right now but not far off. but my 5.0 is faster than my 427r was. I still like the 3vs they can be brutal with a built motor and big boost. my cousin has a 5.1 stroker/ with heads laying in his garage right now that he was going to put in but he decided he going to sale his 3v and get a 06 z06

---------- Post added at 03:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:15 PM ----------

and my wifes 12 v6 is pretty peppy. its amazing how quick they are for a 6.

I still don't understand why anyone would want a v6 mustang. Not hating nor downing anyone with a v6 just never understood why anyone would want a muscle car with a v6. Most of the time I hear people say they got it for gas mileage and I say well why didn't you buy a Prius lol once again not hating!

V6 mustang is cool if you can't afford a GT. but I really don't understand these guys that go out and buy a new 2013 v6 for like $37,000

---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 PM ----------

And I can get good has mileage in my GT. I can get 26.5 average on a 1000+ mile trip. Of course around town I get like 18 but that's a small price to pay for such a gun ride

How do you get 26.5?? Is your stang basically stock. I have CAI, tune, LT headers, full exhaust and 4:10's and I average 17.3.

I have BBK 62 mm TB. Steeda underdrive pullies. Cervinis ram air hood. Ford racing 4.10 gears. Ford racing CAI. Summit racing offroad H pipe. MAC boomtubes muffler deletes.
Bamma SCT tuner.

I get 24 average over a normal week 80% town driving 20% highway. With the 87 street tune. I'll get over 26 when I travel from Rolla MO to Indianapolis Indiana (made the trip 4 times in my car) with the 87 tune. I drive REALLY easy tho and NEVER go over 60 mph.

I get around 16.5 when I'm running the 93 race tune but I think it's just how I drive it..

I don't race. I love the mustang style and sound. I wanted to have IMO the perfect Muscle car growl which I was able to do rather easily with my GT and exhaust set up. would have wasted thousands and never been able to get that sound with a V6 so that was a major factor.

I get better mpgs then most v6 of any year.... when I want to and or need to... I have a 3v w every bolt on.... I was getting close to 30mpg... while running 93 octane r tune.... after LT install and a few changes to the tune from bama and tx summer heat I'm getting 17-20 mainly due to email tunes being worthless... I've made every v6 look like what they are... wannabes, don't get me wrong w/o the v6 sales there is no mustang... however when people say I wanted a gt but could not afford insurance then u need to really evaluate what it is you want.... a new v6 is 3-8x more expensive than 05-09 gt... not to mention 96-02 cobra... or even a fox.... if you got a v6 because you like the look but can't afford the gt then you want a mustang for the wrong reasons... IMO... I kick my self everyday for not buying a higher tier model mustang... going from a cobra to a 10 year newer GT... however a low mile stock 17k 07 gt was hard to pass up

Rant off

I can't remember 99-02 was a mirror image of.fear and loathing in Las Vegas for me Lol so Yes u r correct but I thought that was 2000... only available cobra that year was the cobra r... 99 was under powered, then the r, then back to 325hp cobras in 01 and 02 ... then "I'll b back" the 03 terminator... 04 mystic chrome anniversary cobra...

I get 16.5-16.8 with the same mods with mixed highway city. Like 60 city, and 40 highway. I think the 87 tune makes that much of a difference.

I get 21-22 Highway if it is flat. Overall I am at around 20 flat give or take on highway runs.

V6 mustang is never cool... Idc if it makes the same power as my gt. what I like is all these v6 owners that come to the gt forum and get all butthurt about it
That is strictly opinion and pretty ridiculous to say that. Whatever people like is cool. There is no set system. V8s were in Mustangs because they made the power. Now the V6 can make that power so it is a viable option for performance. The New V8s make more power as well and they are a step up but a person should never be tanked on because a choice they made on a car. At the end of the day, it is JUST a car. A tin can that takes most of us to work or drains our wallets. It is our hobby or passion, that doesn't change that it is just a car.

They may get 'Butthurt' because people immaturely tank of them for no reason. The New V6 is a great choice if that is what the buyer wanted.

+1000000 Borii. I love my V6 and I plan on staying V6. They don't break the bank, and insurance is cheaper. I can have the same amount of power and better gas milage. So I see no loss.
