Cammed Mustang at 100k miles??

Would it be safe to cam my 06 GT with 100k miles? I just bought long tube headers, and CAI and new plugs and coils, and new clutch. If its safe is there anything else I would need to be safe?

Talk to the guys at Brenspeed. I don't see why it would be a problem unless your 4.6 is already really ragged out. Just remember though, if you haven't already done gears, that's probably gonna need to be next. You will lose some low end torque.

I'm going to keep the 3.55 I drive 6 miles to work and back and rarely drive it on weekends unless it's to a car show, but you never know I might do 4.10

Yeah, I forgot the 06 was a 3.55 from the factory. My 07 was a 3.31 stock.

3.55 gears were an upgrade from the factory in 07. Like an extra couple hundred bucks I think. And he said he already has LT's, so he'll get some pretty nice gains.

Show me the great gains, I haven't seen much, every dyno I've seen also added headers along with the cams, I'm not saying you won't get 10 hp but idk if it's worth it

It's worth it... again you people equate hp w speed... that is 100% not the case.... just because you gain "10" hp does not mean you won't drop ur times significantly... If I use your theory gears are not worth it because you don't see hp... or new clutch or aluminum one piece drive shaft... full bolt on w Cams can make 20+ rwhp... w the right dyno tune... fact

They just don't make gains in the real world, as far as 1/4 times go, I scuff up cammed 2v and 3v all the time, if you got 1200 to dump into cams spend it on a nitrous kit and good tune, mods motors aren't like the old push 5.0s or LS motors cams just don't seem to have a big effect on the cars

I guess we are witnessing the exact opposite... no it's not going to see the same gains as spray... but not everyone wants to go that route... even spray goes hand in hand w cams... cams are a must if you are trying to run w the big boys...

I'm pretty sure 05 and up came with 3.31 automatic and 3.55 manual. I read it's nice to put at least 3.73 or 4.10 when you do the cams cus releasing from a stop totally changes with new cams. I heard you have to like relearn everything cus it's a different feel

Everything you've heard about the cams is true. As far as gears, 05 and 06 mustangs had 3.55's stock. 07 they started making 3.31's standard for auto and manual, with 3.55's available as an upgrade. I can't put a link up right now, but you can google it and see. Plus I bought my 07 used, and it had 3.31's.

With a well tuned cam, it is not that different. I did notice a little change but if you have a brain and 2 feet, it takes maybe like 5 minutes of driving to get used to it.

Brenspeed and comp cams net 30 WHP gains over and over again. The only cams I have seen net low gains are FRRP. Cams work, they're proven themselves since the beginning of time.

I am running my car Tuesday most likely since I just added cams, I'll let you know the difference.

If you have 3.55 already don't waste your time going 3,73, go 4.10. You won't notice that much of a difference with the 3.73 from 3.55. 4.10 will feel like a different car.
