Tuning after installing a CAI

I bought a used 07 GT 5-speed from a dealer that had a CAI installed by the previous owner. Other than the CAI the car is stock.

Since I don't know if the previous owner updated the tune after they installed the CAI I thought I'd touch base with other Mustang owners on this forum to get some advice.

The car runs fine but it could be out-of-tune and I don't know it.

I'm going to try and locate the previous owner but if that doesn't work I'll need some advice on my next move. Buy a tuner, get an e-mail tune or do nothing.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks, bob1726

Re: Tuning after installing a CAI

there are several CAIs on the market that do not require a tune. It is possible that you have one of those installed on your car Is there a brand nane anywere on this intake???

I agree with stemar. If you look at the CAI, there should be a brand name on it (JLT, Steeda, Airraid etc). Then you can look up that brand and see if it needs to be tuned. If your car is running fine now, it probably doesn't need a tune or it already has one. However, if you plan on modding your car at all in the future, you are going to need a handheld programmer anyhow. IMO you might as well buy a programmer and an email tune. The guys at AM can hook you up.

Re: Tuning after installing a CAI

Thanks to Stemar and BenGT07 for the advice.
I'll check to see if I can find a brand name on the CAI.
