Plasti dip don't mask it off just spray it and peel it off the paint

Plasti dip comes off of cars really well... What i would say is using masking tape, make a box around the emblem you want to spray, then spray it with a good couple coats so it is decently thick, that way when you pull it off it peels right off the paint with no problem. It is perfectly safe to spray it on paint, it will not damage it at all.

Actually all they use to hold it on there is double sided 3M. So I took mine off and painted it and out it back on.

For my silver "5.0" emblems I ordered some black ones. Probably could have tried plasti - dip as others have recommended, but it's done now.

How was the emblem removal, did you use a heat gun at all? what did you use to clean the paint with afterwards?

I removed my chrome GTs and installed black ones. Put some masking tape (the blue stuff) around the emblem to protect the paint and use a putty knife to pry the original emblem off. They have dowel pins installed, so the blade will only go down so far. A little WD40 helps loosen up the adhesive. I purchased the black ones online. Probably would consider plastic-dipping If I had to do again.

I took mine off in favor of the black 4.6 emblem. Used fishing line to remove emblem and the 3m eraser tool to remove the left over adhesive.
