Re: Hood pins or no?

My black Roush had the hood flutter at any speed over 50 MPH. I tried removing the weather strip that runs along the base of the hood near the windshield. It helped, but then the flutter occurred at 70MPH. I installed a set of the billet Shelby pins, and never had the flutter again. My Saleen came with pins, but they are not the quality the Shelby ones are.

I decided the other day to open my Roush up a little. I had to back out of it at 130 because I thought the hood was gonna fly off. I think I will look into a flush mounted style. My car has that clean smooth look and I like it.

Keeping on topic now, but does the lanyards from the pins scratch the paint on the hood?

The Shelby ones are coated with a rubber/nylon so they won't scratch. Not sure about other ones though. But I would make sure whatever ones anyone looks into they have some sort of coating.

I think a lot do, but even the rubber/nylon I think would wear the paint

Re: Hood pins or no?

These are locking hood pins that are almost flush, and no lanyards-

Aerocatch flush mount carbon Fiber Hood Pins

Does anyone have any remedies to keep the keys from anodizing?? Or oxidizing?? Whatever it's doing.

Lol, it would be sweet if it was self-anodizing.

That's just normal wear and tear. Mine look exactly like that too. The chrome gets worn off and you see the color of the metal (mine is copper colored) that is exposed.

I don't think there's anything you can do other than replace them and I'm not sure you can get the key without buying the entire kit.

You could try a good chrome polish. Then just keep up with it.

Good point. Unfortunately the only reason I took them off was to refill washer fluid

I am about to install my hood pins and have thought about how to better lock them in place. I plan on notching the key about the width of the pin. Then use some plastic heat shrink tubing on the key.
