Careful, be sure to check your throttle body for a sticker. Some throttle bodies are made with a protective coating and they are not supposed to be cleaned. If you do clean them you'll ruin that protective coating

Use throttle body cleaner and your coating will be fine and its up to yo when you want to clean it. I would say every twenty thousand miles or depending on where you drive it.

The mustang does not have a Teflon coating in the TB so you can clean as often as you want. It is good maintenance to clean your TB along with your fuel system every 15K or once a year. This will help maximize your fuel economy. As far as fuel filter, the manufacturer suggests that it be replaced every 30K. A little advise, don't totally remove the plastic cover when you replace the filter, just bend it down from the rear, it's kind of a ***** to put back on.

Yeah, super easy.

I accidently found the fuel filter looking for something else. My mechanic charged me 75 for the filter change, 75 for the TB and 75 for the fuel injector cleaner and a through inspection. Ford wanted 800 for the same job.

But you can do it all for less than 75. Check American Muscle and Rock Auto for the filter.. they seem to have the best price.

Throttle body cleaner will NOT hurt the coating. Just make sure to use THROTTLE BODY cleaner. Not carb cleaner or other types of cleaner. The TB cleaner won't damage coating

Come on over to my house and I'll show you what throttle body cleaner did to my stock throttle body and how it was the thing that convinced my wife to let me buy a BBK 70mm throttle body.

Re: cleaning throttle body

I use a citrus orange cleaner..Even if it ruins the coating,,it just means you have to clean more often,,If you go by the label,,you would have to replace the throttle body every 20000 miles,,instead of cleaning it..thats crazy,,If you let it get to dirty youll have drivability problems,,Ford uses throttle body cleaner,,even with the protective coating,,they say just say clean it more often,,if your worried about the coating,,then replace it when it gets dirty,,i know i wont,,ill just clean it more often,,I usually clean it out when i service the air filter,,the 05 to 09,,just carefully open the plates up,,dont force it to hard against the electric motor,,

If you turn the key in the on position and hold the pedal down the TB will open on the 05 and up. You should never manually open a drive by wire TB.

But yours is Teflon ours are not... And everyone knows that you should only use soap and water, and a rubber spatula

I think you were predetermined to get the BBK and it was the only way you could ever convince your wife.
