Cam Sensor CEL code

Hello,

I just purchased a used 2005 GT mustang a few weeks ago...just yesterday i started it and all of a sudden the CEL was on....i went to advanced auto and its saying the CAM sensor is lose or bad based on the code...however the engine is running perfect...no misses, timing doesnt seem out nothing...i disconnected battery to try an reset and it did come back on...

Anyone have any suggestions?? is the CAM sensor easy to change out???

The car does have a CAI and throttle spacer, and if theres anything else done to the motor im not sure....i assume whoever had it before me had to get it tuned?? Does that maybe have something to do with it?? I notice absolutely no difference in throttle response or power...

thanks soo much for your response!!

Shaun

Cam sensors are super easy and cheap to change out ... However, I had a code saying my cam sensors were bad an I changed them and they ended up saying that I needed a new alternator :/ then two days later my battery died cuz of a bad alternator .... Soooooooo ur local auto store can prob order ur cam sensors .... U can look up on YouTube where to change them .... There's two of them... And it's just a bolt to unbolt then bolt back on super easy .... But if it continues to stay on I'd check ur alternator :/

The parts here in AZ were like 17$ each not too bad

I had the same issue, I did new CPS from pep boys and still had the code. Got the CPS from Ford and immediately code was gone. Quite a bit more expensive, but the OEM part worked... If it happened again, I'd probably try Pep Boys again though. $17 vs $48 or whatever.
