Wheels & Tire Selection

Newbie to this Forum so if I'm in the wrong area I apologize. I'm looking at having American Racing custom make me some 17" or 18" Vintage Torque Thrust for my 07 GT. I do have suspension mods but still have the stock brakes. I liked Tim Allens 08 Bullitt as he was running 17"x8" with 255/50-17with a 38mm off-set according to Galpin. Can I run a 50 series on an 18" or would you recoommend going to 45's. I currently have a 20" staggered set-up on the car which I don't care for and will be up for sale soon. My situation is I'm lost on the off-set and with custom built wheels your stuck with em even if they don't work out.

Thanks for any input

I have a 275/40-18 in the rear so idk if I would go with a 50 series if you get a 255 or wider. Especially since you said you have susp mods already. I have eibach sportlines so it's pretty low as well.

Here's an idea, hope this helps

Re: Wheels & Tire Selection

Thanks guys. I'm on 20" staggered at the present time and thinking of changing it up to all one size. 17"s would be on 50's or if I go 18"s those would be on 45's. Galpin says +35mm to +42mm is the correct off-set for what I'm trying to achieve. Thanks for the help guys. Sincerely appreciated.

Re: Wheels & Tire Selection

Thanks for the responses guys. All very nice cars. My hurdle at the present is I've got one reputable outfit telling me 30mm is the right off-set and another saying 35mm-42mm. I'm assuming it depends on your wheel width but if I'm having wheels made I gotta get it right. Thanks again guys
