The swaping of parts is easy getting it set up right is what takes time but its not hard. Here is a real good how to link with pic's that explanes the process take a look and see if its something you guys that have never done this mod think you can handle rear gear how to
The problem i have is the pionion depth and the teeth pattern,,after you get that you can almost set the backlash by eye ,,if you done a few..I done a bunch at work ,,but they are the simple one not the positive,,so ill be a little nervous doing mine,,but i rather do it a couple times to get it right before i let someone else do it,,i dont like noone to touch my car

With the ford racing gear set setting pinon depth is a simple math problem to find the correct shims once thats done set the backlash and your done the theeth pattern will always be correct if your pinon depth and backlash are set correctly.

Do you still have to use the gear paint to check the pattern

Dude don't fear the gear. I went 331 to 410. I love it. I felt like I needed the extra gear with my cams though. I'm always in the powerband.
