in the market for a 2005-09 gt

so im in the sac area, and of course prices will vary and whatnot but im going to get a 05-09 gt 5sp. just a few questions though, what really is higher mileage for these years. ill be leaning towards the older half of the years so like 05-06 and how long do the motors usually go for? im pretty good at taking care of my cars and such but ive owned toyotas so far and they are unbreakable. any other issues with the 4.6 3v that i should know about?

thanks,
brandon

Look for one that has not been modded with good maint records. The 4..6 can easily go 300k when taken care of. If it has mods, I can garantee It's been beat on. Good luck with the search, you'll never go rice again.

Try to get a original owner.. Like an adult not a kid. 07-09 would be easier to do that, and be a little nicer/faster.. Whenever you buy it I welcome you to the mustang family... You'll love it here...

Honestly, eBay. eBay had decent stuff. I got mine off of eBay. It was at a nice *** dealer called Midwest motor. Sitting next to mclarens and **** lol. 11,000 miles one owner. That's what you gotta look for off the bat. 1-2 owners, and under 50,000 miles. It will be around $18k though. But well worth it !

Def do 07-09. I'd look for under 50k miles, with minimal mods. If its just axle back exhaust and CAI, should be ok. Plan on replacing those 2 piece spark plugs and putting in a performance alternator as soon as you get it. It WILL save you headache and money in the long run. Not sure on how much it will cost you out there, but you should be patient, watch CL, Autotrader and eBay, look at the average prices, then look for a deal. With this economy, there's a lot of people selling toys right now, so if you are patient, you WILL find a good deal.

The 4.6 is a great engine the only thing on some older ones was the ignition coils but I think that was pre 05

i'm new to this forum but been around the mustang scene for years.
I have an 06 gt 5spd that is done up beyond belief
been in several magazines including cover of 5.0 in October 2008
have win many shows and 4 time SEMA show car
several TV shows including Adam Carola

have too much on my plate with my business and kids
only had 35 k miles pampered with an occasional fun spurts, but who doesn't
just want to make sure it goes to a good home

I still need to go to a proper thread and introduce myself as well, though i'm sure I have talked to many on some other forums

Yeah. Good luck man, and have 20 grand ready. If you think you get away with 16,000 you're gonna have a bad time.

Yea 18-20k for a good one. My 05 GT premium loaded one owner with .. I think 28,xxx miles I bought for 19k I've seen better deals but in my area they don't come around often at all.

If you are going to spend 20k tho.. Think about a 2011 5.0 GT. they can be found for 26k or under.. Wait 12 months and you should find them for 20k -23k easily And that's another 100 HP with no mods at all.

Idk I'd rather have a 3v any day over the coyote boys. It takes a lot more to be fast. Don't buy it, build it! Just go with what you like buddy and you'll be fine. Just don't get nothing without a clean title, there's not one person who won't agree. Good luck with the stang buying! Because once you get one, your pretty much in line for another one!

No? You said just get a 2011 5.0 for bang for your buck. So I said I would rather have a 3v, not that you didn't have one, just sayin I prolly wouldn't have a 5.0

I bought my 2006 GT Premium with 85,000 miles for $11,000 from a wealthy older gentlemen who had just purchased a 2012 corvette. Original owner, the car was a commuter car, practically all highway miles. Oil change every 2,500-3,000 miles, tires constantly changed & rotated, etc. and he kept every single record logged in a folder so I know everything that's happened to the car.

Deals do exist - just be patient and look for them. I saved a lot of money and got a sweet deal on my baby by being patient. Sure, 85,000 miles is a bit more than what most people would like on a used mustang, but after seeing how well taken care of it was, I couldn't pass it up.

If you find something with high mileage, just make sure all of the preventative maintenance were performed, and it wasn't owned by somebody who was completely ignorant to caring for it. You can easily keep a mustang going past 200k miles, especially the v8s which are pretty robust.

I've seen a ton of new edge mustangs with 200-300k miles, v6 and v8. Face it, our cars are Fords and if you take care of them, they will last you long time.

I got my 2005 GT about 2-months ago. It is fully loaded with the shaker 1000 system and the red leather interior. It belonged to a couple in their mid 50's. This car was kept in their basement and it has never seen rain. I just hit 7000 (seven thousand) in it a few weeks ago. I got it for 18,000.

Damn that's crazy! Only 7 thousand on an 05? That's still brand new pretty much lol

Ya I've seen that too. Maintenance is key and if you keep up with it the 3v will treat you right

Is it ok if I hate you? Lol

A lot of it depends on the area tho. My 05 fully loaded with 28,xxx miles was 19k but I got mind from a dealer.
