Been thinkin about nitrous. Who's runnin it?

How big a shot. How often do you use it. How many miles on your car. What are your experiences. Put some knowledge on me. Thanks fellas

I would just get a good tune and leave it. I wouldn't even run nitrous if I had that stuff. But that's just me.

Most people would recommend 100 shot being max unless you have forged internals and such, is a really good and cheap power adder, just make sure to get the TPS switch to make sure it only activated only at WOT, otherwise you will have problems.

I've heard it's hard to tune.
If you get a dry system you will have to do some small adjustments, but with the wet system you don't even really have to tune it. Cause its not like you are going to be doing daily driving while running NOS.

It prolly runs good with yours mods and pushing nos and possibly risking your motor I'd just not spray unless its for sure safe.

I heard if you tune it correctly with the nos and all your mods, it should be fine. Some guy in this muffler shop that I went to has a older firebird v6 with a lot of miles on it with nos. I asked him a lot of questions is it dangerous ext. he said no he beats on it more than usual with nos on and he has no problems because its tuned right. Hope this helps

Hey, I personally do not have nitrous on the car but my buddies all do. I'll go with the statement above and add on. It's safe to run on a car to AN EXTENT! You cannot always beat on the car nor can you have your foot in it. I would make sure you don't have a ton of miles and do a full engine tear down before I ran nitrous as a precaution. A 75 shot would be the highest I would ever go with nitrous on a stock bottom end. And even if you forged the internals I would only shoot a 125 shot just to be safe. Hope this helps!

75 shot is the highest? Haha and 125 on a built motor? Haha your over hyping what nitrous is and does, you'll be fine with a 125 shot with good supporting mods and like anything if you abuse it, expect to pull out the check book, but that's with anything stock or modified

My buddy ran a 100 shot on a stock block with a conservative tune. 2 weeks later he was picking out peices of his motor out of the oil pan. You do whatever you want. I hope you dont own a shop cuz your gonna make bank from all the advice you give that doesn't work. Not my car but I guess that's why your on a forum huh, my opinion matters. Don't know what nitrous is? It's a tickin time bomb no matter what it's on. Just gotta wait for it to blow. Hahahaha youll learn.

Because of one example? You base your whole thought about nitrous on, I use to own a Lincoln mark VIII and everyone was big on spray with those cars the minimum was a 125 shot they would run and a stock block with 75k plus miles on all of them, I bought a kit and then my trans went out before I could use it once, but if it held up for a couple of passes I'd be blaming the nitrous, shlt happens, everyone I knows uses it and never a problem

Guys guys guys stop the fighting noooooo fighting,,, ok done with that carry on ;}„

So let's see nitrous, super charger, turbo hmm all power adders √
All sweet to use √
All dangerous √
Taking a risk √
Even on low settings √
Anything can go wrong √
No matter how you use it can last 100k miles or 1km √
Just a game that is played. You never know what can happen till it happens or it will never happen.
Just my $2.57 ÷π

I have Nitrous, I've had Nitrous. I would run a 100 shot if I were you. Use a Dry Kit also. One that is controlled by a computer module (Zex, Venom, etc.) They are really safe. Any problems and they automatically shut off Nitrous supply. Wet Kits build up Fuel and Nitrous and explode if you rev the engine and then go WOT. Very unsafe.

I had a 94 with a 125 shot. I probably speayed more than I should have, but the guy I sold it to still has the car and no problems. I sprayed in that car over 10 yrs ago.

That is why you should start with a smaller spray nozzle. You are going to spray more than you should because you are new to it. 75-100 shot at most for now. I have also had a lot of friends that have sprayed and no problems. Anyone I have seen blow their motor has been stupid with it. Too big of a shot, not putting all the correct pieces on, wet kits with no Nitrous knowledge, no computer module kits, etc.

Just use your head and don't skip any safety requirements. Most importantly, HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!

I will have to agree .. Any power adder can blow your motor if its not tuned correctly. Nitrous is a cheap way to go fast, but it does add up over time filling up a bottle. 40 here 40 there its adds up.. I installed a 75 shot dry on my buddies 93 with 150k on the motor. Hes beats the hell out that car .. It still runs good. Me on the other hand I run 200 shot Direct port , my motor is fully built to handle it, plus I run a progressive box to control it as well.. I only spray it here and there. But it has held up just fine.. A 75 shot is fine without a tune, if you run a 100 or more you will need to pull some timing out. Those Mutha Thumpr cams wont really work all that great with the spray.
