Cams without longtubes

Comp cams muther thumper cams with stock exhaust muffler deletes SCT bama tuner and 4.10 gears being the only other mods

Good idea or not? Will that be too much cam with stock exhaust? Will it hurt anything?

---------- Post added at 08:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 AM ----------

I'm not sure ill ever go to the expense of long tubes but I really want that cam sound and idle.

If you don't want LTs then you can go on jegs and get an offroad h pipe for like $160. You definitely want as little resistance as possible. But it wouldn't hurt anything if you didn't. You'd just be kinda choking the motor.

Full exhaust is definitely not required for the Muther Thumper cams. Although, I would definitely look into an aftermarket mid-pipe of some sort. Even a high-flow catted mid-pipe will help drastically over stock. There's just too much back-pressure with stock cats and they really choke down the scavenging affect of your exhaust.

Hope this info helps!

I did cams first. I picked up less than 10WHP and lost some TQ. Added LT's and O/R H, picked up another 30. So if you just want the sound, do it. If you want performance, def not worth it.

I really just wanted to make sure the cams wouldn't hurt anything without full exhaust before I drop $1000 on them.

I didn't have any problems. A little more work on the clutch and gas at low speeds or stop and go. Not bad though.

Do the full exhaust first then do the cams. You will get some nice gains from a full exhaust with tune. Then you can add the cams and get an extra 30.

Its much better to pay a shop to do it unless you have pretty advanced mechanic skills. It's not that's its HARD its just you really want it to be done right.

The full exhaust, tune and CAI. Will get you 300 or more WHP. If you do this all at once it will for sure put a smile on your face.

It's really not brain surgery. Any shop that does engine work can handle it

Well even better. That's exactly what I had on my 07. 4.10s,LTs,HF cats,Boomtubes,CAI and 93R tune from Bama. You won't be disappointed and the 4.10s pair up great with the exhaust.

I have full boltons and cams. I spin second. Spin a little in 3rd. Chirp in 4th. That's power shifting of course.
