Winter tires

Does anyone know if winter tires actually work? I'm in Chicago so it snows a good amount through nov-feb. just wondering what's the better option. Winter tires or a 4cyn beater. Thanks

Uhhh do both!! Especially in Chicago and all the salt on the road.

Winter tires won't get hard like summer tires near freezing. I. Other words, you won't be on ice skates. The tread on winter tires also have cuts that allow the tread to flatten and spread on the contact patch.

Get a cheap 4 cylinder beater WITH winter tires!
