Could be either battery or alternator. Lots of people, including myself, have had problems with the alternator.

Took my car in finally for a routine check and oil change and also to check the alternator since the battery light comes on. Upon inspection the alternator indicated good, more testing then they found out it was becoming bad.. Also my tie rod ends are worn out and for some reason the mechanic says it also has a oil leak.
The alternator and tie rod ends are been cover by the extended warranty, I only have to pay for the alignment($85). For the oil leak I'm surprise since I just took the car 3 months ago to fix an oil leak :/ I hope it's leaking from the same place so I won't have to pay again. On Monday they should know exactly where the oil is leaking

A lot of times the voltage regulator in the alternator will become progressively worse over time then fail completely. You'll notice things like dimming headlights when coming to a stop because it's not increasing the voltage under lower engine revolutions. Losing an alternator on the road sucks! Lost one in my 96 Crapmaro in the middle of nowhere, tried to limp it to a parts store but it shifted into 1st and wouldn't shift out. LAME

Yeah that sucks, battery hold its charge and car ran good. The service advisor was surprise that the battery kept its charge and I didn't get stranded since I had the light on For 3 days

My batter light is on after I replaced battery and alternator. I went to Auto Zone and they said battery had too much charge and alternator was good. I just drained battery and then jumped it off and light still on. Any suggested problems?
