Re: need pisc of wheels

Nothing special. Just ordered wheels that are made for the '05+. Don't try to order wheels for the previous body styles even though the bolt pattern is correct if you want wheels this huge because the offset becomes an important facter. It is not as vital with smaller wheels. They are 20x9 up front and 20x10.5 rear. I lowered with the Saleen suspension kit which reduced clearance but looks sick and improved cornering. It fill the fender wells pretty nicely as you see but I still have full turning ability.
Anything I forgot? or anything else?

Re: need pisc of wheels

My wheels are the staggered Mach black 20's by AFS which is some company in Cali. I was a little timid when I ordered them because they mainly sell on e-bay and they were not that expensive at all; however, the wheels fit perfectly, they come with the tri-bar pony centercap, they look insanely amazing, and they show no signs of wear.
Also, they do come in 18's.

Although 20s on an S197 look good-not too blingy, the tires are just too expensive.

Re: need pisc of wheels

it depends on what you want to do with the car... id say 20's would kill your launch... youd have NO give in the sidewall... haha those are like rubberbands

Re: need pisc of wheels

I fair decently at the track on the 20's. I know I will never break any reconds on them but I can still drop tire pressure to about 23psi and grip decently with sub 2.0 second 60'.

Not really fair to compare your times and to Red Devil. One thing is you kept you PSI to high and how much power are putting down? A car with 400hp, 376 LBS TQ even with 20" rims will almost always beat a car with 260 hp/280 LBS tq.

Re: need pisc of wheels

sorry. Mustangs look carnival silly with anything larger then 18's anyway.. 20's look like a Jada playtoy you get at K mart lol.. Don't worry Ill remember the names of those with 17's.. Not everyone digs the dubs look.. 2: BUT those mach one type wheels are outstanding looking..

You think my wheels look classless and out of place? Are they anywhere near the "dub" look?

no sorry.. Your wheels look nice.. Like em... but generally 20" wheels look goofy and toylike on a car.. They look out of place on most cars..

Re: need pisc of wheels

I will give you that. 20's have to be done right and can not always be done to certain cars. Just remember that most of the time you see a concept car they usually have 20's on them and look amazing but are too expensive to make it to production. I do know what you mean but be careful of over generalizations. Sorry to come off harsh before

you took this alil to much to heart... it was a joke... i ran it just as i did off the street (my first run this year)... so i didnt lower the pressure... i had a pump to put them back up but i broke 13's so i couldn't run again...

what i was getting at is... it is a tendency that the less sidewall you go with the less grip youll get (hence why you see downsizing to 15's with slicks...) you have to have some kind of give in the sidewall...

Re: need pisc of wheels

absolutely correct. ALL high powered drag cars have soft sidewall slicks. No one can run good times with O ring tires. Ya need ther sidewall flex for shock loading for a decent launch. That being said.. O ring tires will give you better handling then big ol soft sidewall tires..

Re: need pisc of wheels

If you want to go that fast at the track and are that serious about it then you have another set of wheels/ tires just for the track. With only one set of wheels, you either you just track it for fun and try to get a good time or you wear the hell out of your drag radials. Right?

Re: need pisc of wheels

yea. Ya see guys at the track change out their o ring tires for slicks or drag radials and leave the o rings on the front. it looks funny but that the fastest way down the track..

Re: need pisc of wheels

there is no set size that a car looks bad with when it comes to rims, that goes for each individual car. Some cars can pull up XX size rims while others cant. You cant put 20s on an integra while you need them on trucks/suvs to look normal~ just the way it works~ 94-04 mustangs shouldnt go bigger than 18s imo while 05+ shouldnt go any smaller than 18s.

They kill a good bit of performance being as heavy as they are and the tires are very expensive
