favorite exhaust?

my buddy is looking for a new exhaust set up, now he probably wont mod the engine heavily at all, so its mainly for just for a nice rumble.

so what are the nice set ups on 05+ GTs? i heard the magnaflows on someones GT locally and they sounded really nice, any other ideas?

Re: favorite exhaust?

actually the ford motorsport mufflers sound awesome on those cars, i didnt really care for the magnaflows but i didnt hate them either, they just seemed a little timid for me.
i want to try the slp loudmouth on our shop car, they should sound wicked.

Re: favorite exhaust?

ugggghhh i hate flowmasters, not the sound just the generic "buy a mustang and throw flowmasters on it". in batonrouge, every car has an h pipe and flowmasters because half of them dont know anything else exists... but they sound good.
i was the first around here to run bbk longtubes and xpipe with slp loudmouths, everybody knew it was me a 5 miles away.i was one of the few not running flowmasters

Re: favorite exhaust?

Have him listen to sound clips on youtube. Another option is go to local car shows. I am sure someone their has an S197 he can listen to. From what I have heard on sound clips, FRPP GT/Borlas sound awesome, but many people who have them are complaining about how much they drone. If he wants loud then SLP, Boomtubes and Borlas would fit the bill. If he wants a medium tone that sounds good especially at WOT then FRPP GTA or JBAs

if it's a GT (which i think you said), you can't go wrong w/ borla stingers or the magnaflows IMO. they both sound GOOD.

I would put the Stainless Works up there with the Kooks....they are some very impressive pieces when you see and hear them in person.

Beyond that, I agree 100%

Re: favorite exhaust?

I need cookies as well. . . .
and I've installed maybe the second most exhausts (except on all types of cars) so I get to be cool too, lol. Actually, I am going to help my buddy put Borla's on his G35 tonight.
Not to get off topic but how difficult is it to put on a short shifter on the S197's ?

Re: favorite exhaust?

only issue with long tubes is that we live in FFX VA so there are nice little emissions testing here and i dont feel like getting a new H pipe. but yea, its gunna be a cat back deal unless H pipes have dropped in price.

and since he isnt really looking for more power yet im assuming Cat backs will work just fine for him.

so Borla or Ford pipes? ill have to look in to both of them.

thanks guys.

FWIW, Borla MAKES the FRPP system for the 05's, so they are one and the same...

Anyone see a "slight" resemblance between the two?

How dare you link to RPM outhouse on here.

To the orginal poster, do not...for any reason...order from RPM outhouse...even if their price looks good....close the window...and step away from the computer before ordering from them.

I like my Pypes Violator axle-backs. Besides, the polished stainless muffler casing looks great from behind.

Re: favorite exhaust?

I agree and I would have bought these except that I don't like the 'Pypes' word on the tip. It makes it look too cheap. I asked Pypes (a local company to me) if they would make a set without the script. Nope.. Oh well..

Much...but I'm still a little disappointed that your hit their site even for a pic. That should be in your banned access list.
