Suspension

I have a list of things that need to be done to my aging GT... Struts, shocks, brake rotors/pads, tires all around, springs, and solve my popping steering when performing low speed turns into parking spaces etc... I want to start with Shocks and Struts so what all do I need to purchase besides the obvious. I'm just going OEM quality... I don't autocross and I don't drag race... Is there anything I can do about the steering pop while I have the suspension components torn out of the car? Anything special I need to know about tool wise or things folks run into when doing suspension?

Thx.

Did a WOT run this morning and had a heavy burned oil smell once I came to a stop. That's a first..... Guess its time to not drive it hard anymore..... Sigh
