Just got my first car, 06 gt. Exhaust?

As the title says just got my first car an 06 GT 5-speed. On my list of mods to be done I'm leaning towards first getting a tuner cai combo off of American muscle. However after that I want to get an exhaust. Tomorrows my birthday so ill have more money than what I have now for parts. However I'm not sure as to which exhaust and the possible exhaust combinations I could get. I know that a couple popular exhaust are the slp loudmouths, borlas, pypes, etc. Anybody's personal opinion on what they have/like. Also if someone could explain to me the different pros and cons of a x vs. h mid pipe. Also any opinion on headers/mid pipes would be great too. Thank you!

SLP loudmouth 1 will give u pretty loud exhaust. It's a muffler delete and they are resonators. It does have a little rasp, which I love but some people don't. I'll post a link to my video that shows my exhaust.

I also have slp's. I love every bit of them. They have that old school muscle sound.

I've got the pypes pype bomb axel back exhaust on my 06 gt with a stock h pipe. An h pipe will give you the deep muscle car rumble and an x pipe will give you a louder raspy sound.

This was on my iPhone so sound quality isn't great. The pypes pype bombs are so loud I had to buy the boom mat vibration dampeners!

Hello iv got an 05 gt. I would suggest the pypes off road h pipe for a deeper sound. And look around for a set of used axelbacks instead of buying brand new ones cuz there just to dam expensive. Iv got a set if magnaflows ill let go for pretty cheap if your interested. Defently get a Bama tuner if you plan on doing alot of mods. And I went with the wms cold air intake witch I live because it different

I have a set of ford racing gta's (5230-gta) coming tomorrow for my 07 gt. I did a lot of reading and YouTube watching before deciding. They were fairly inexpensive, tips looked good, supposedly no drone, and are not too loud. I didn't want too loud since it is a daily driver. Hoping they work out good. It is all up to what you want.

+1 on the SLP loudmouths until you get headers and H or X pipe. After that they are bit too loud as a daily driver depending on how strict your local law enforcement officers are.

happy birthday and I have mac axlebacks and they're perfect for me. +1 on buying used from someone else as well, way cheaper! I got my whole exhuast set up mac longtube headers all the way down to axleback for 275 dollars when I first started modding. Craigslist and forums go a long way!

Don't put too much stock in online sound bites. They never pick up enough bass. It's best to hear them in person, it makes a big difference.

The best thing to do is listen to different exhaust in person, I found YouTube to be a great help. When your on YouTube just remember they sound better in person than in the videos

congrats on the car, i got the same year about 2 months ago...can't go wrong with pypes pype-bomb axle back as a first cheap mod...they sound amazing.

h pipes tend to be a deeper rumble...they sound way better than x pipes imo because i just do not like that raspy sound they tend to make.

a lot of people here say long tube headers are the way to go as well, avoid the shorties although i've never heard why...i'm still looking into it but a long way off from purchasing.

new adjustable LCA's, and lowering it are on my short list of things to do next.

Ford did a good job with OEM Shorty's so the aftermarket doesn't really offer any gains

Slp's are amazing! And if u put a x-pipe with it as well 😉 it's the best exhaust combo I've found personally

It has its perks. But all these trucks that are so loud they set off car alarms......obnoxious. Sounds like a repetitive backfire. I've heard farts that sounded better.

Congrats on the purchase and nice year! I have an '06 GT also. I have an o/r X, Pypes M80 mid mufflers, and Pypes Violator catback. Not nearly as loud as the Pypes Bomb catback I had first, but it has zero drone and sounds great at cruising. It's called a "Pypes Super System" on youtube. The owner of pypes has that on his personal 05 GT so you know it's a good setup.
