Car will not start **NEED HELP**

Need some helpful advice. Car will not start. It doesn't even crank. I still get power to all of the car's electronics though. Car is a 2008 Mustang GT with a 5-speed. About 54K miles.

List of mods are:
Pypes long tube headers
Pypes shorty H-pipe & Pypes pype-bomb muffler delete
No cats & no mufflers
BBK CAI
GT500 Throttle body
RAM Clutch & RAM Steel Flywheel
Hurst Billet Shifter
SCT Bama Tune from American Muscle with 93 octane

I was driving, then heard a loud screeching noise. I pulled over within a few blocks once I knew my car was making the noise. After I cut the car off, it never started back up again.

Checked oil level...oil level is fine.
Removed the battery and had it tested. Works fine.
Checked all the battery terminal connections. All good.
Removed the starter and had it tested. Works fine.
Raised the rear wheels off the ground, put the car in neutral and rear wheels spun freely....so the problem isn't in the rear end gears.

I tried to manually turn the crank from the front of the engine with a socket wrench, but crank did not budge. The car is in neutral, so the crank should turn freely....but it doesn't. I even removed the accessory pulley belt thinking maybe an accessory pulley froze. All pulleys spin freely....except for the crankshaft pulley.

Something is preventing the crank & flywheel from turning and starting the car. At this point, I'm starting to think I might have internal engine damage or a broken oil pump. But before I start tearing my engine apart I want to get some insight on possible causes & solutions. Anyone has any insight?

Maybe the starter some how came out and seized? Idk it's just a guess but a cheap one. Fits the description.

It's not the starter. That was my first guess. Removed the starter and had it tested it at 3 different auto parts stores. Starter is working just fine.

Pull the plugs out and try moving the crank again, you won't be fighting compression. Make sure your in neutral.

But sounds like clutch or flywheel bolts came loose.

While this is definitely a strong possibility, it is still possible the crank doesn't turn because the engine failed and is physically seized. Hopefully not.

Used 3V engine and tranny combos are not that much these days in a worst case scenario. Not trying to be a negative person but if it failed and you end up having to dump 2-3k to fix it, might as well build it.

Have you pulled the valve covers to see if you broke a cam pulley or something jammed one of the timing chains?

Yeah, I'm gonna be the cynic here. That high pitched sound could be a bearing saying bye bye and now you're seized. But check for a top end failure first obv. I would take it as an excuse to teardown and build the engine tho haha.

The scratching sound as mentioned earlier could very well be the flywheel conning loose and frying your clutch. Or you may have spun the main bearing.

Should be an inspection plate on your bell housing to check your clutch.

It is best if you pull the plugs to try and turn over the motor manually to see if it is seized.

Also can drain the oil and run a magnet through it see if you get shavings.

Haven't pulled the valve covers yet. Was trying to look into some other possibilities before I open anything up in the engine. But that's definitely on my list of things to try and check.

Tried that. crank still wouldn't turn and all of the accessory pulleys spun freely too.

My bet is still clutch/flywheel, something came apart and is jamming. Only say that because they have been changed.
If not then ya probably bearing.
I'd be pulling transmission and checking it out.

I would start with pulling the trans out and the valve covers. As much as I hate to say you have a major problem and should think about pulling the engine out. Do you have access to a car lift?

Since it's a manual I would try to push start it before tearing it apart. The engine and transmission should turn freely after you pop the clutch in second gear. If it locks up and comes to a screeching halt then you have a problem somewhere in the drivetrain.

That's what I figured too. He's already tried turning the engine by hand and it won't budge. Using the cars weight and momentum may break it free. Just don't try to push it too fast, a couple of friends on a quiet road, about 5 mph will do.

BTW my guess is that your oil pump failed. Did you get any lights on the dash before you shut it down?

My bros truck did something close to this and what happened the oil pump fell out in the the pan and the crank shaft sheared off so it could be something along those lines also

Finally had time to work on this problem today.

Drained the motor oil. No metal shavings or debris in oil.
Pulled out all the spark plugs. Engine still won's turn by hand at the crankshaft pulley.

Any other suggestions before I start pull out the tranny and/or motor?

Good news!

My engine was not seized or locked up internally. Took the transmission out to find out one of my pressure plate bolts came loose and locked up the transmission/flywheel from turning. It must have got wedged up in the transmission somewhere. I was able to manually crank the engine by hand and it's turning. All I have to do now is replace all my pressure plate bolts and put everything back together.

My clutch/flywheel are fairly new and have less than 4K miles on them. So I do not plan on changing those parts. However, is it necessary for me to resurface the flywheel?

Awesome news. Have you found the bolt in question? Check out your flywheel and see if the bolt did any damage, if not I wouldn't resurface it since the clutch isn't getting replaced.

Awesome news. Have you found the bolt in question? Check out your flywheel and see if the bolt did any damage, if not I wouldn't resurface it since the clutch isn't getting replaced.
Yep, bolt was just rolling around in the bellhousing. And luckily no damage to the flywheel.
