Rocks in my exhaust

My battery died and when I jump started it. It like sounds like it has rocks in it. So I guess the cats are bad. Good news is that I have longtubes and a o/r x pipe in the garage to replace it. Bad news is I can't put them in until next Friday. How bad would it be if I just run my bbk shorties with out the pipes.

Probably louder than your local cops would like.

I once had a '96 Dodge truck that suffered that problem. When I pecked on the cat, it sounded like it was full of gravel. The honeycomb guts were breaking up. I ran it for a week or so, without any problems, until I could get scheduled for its replacement. I don't see a need for you to be overly concerned with removing cats before you can get them permanently replaced.

Yeah, I did too. When the cat cooled from an interstate run, I was getting a "check engine" light too. That didn't bother me as much as worrying about that crap going into my mid-pipe muffler, but I took it easy until I could remove the bad cat. Just lightly tap the pipes with a mallet to ensure none of it escaped the cat. You should be ok.
