Must go faster!

I recently bought an 06 GT 5-speed from a buddy of mine. The car already has mods on it, but like most people on here, I want more power.

Here is a list of the current mods:
JLT CAI
BBK 62mm twin throttle body
MAC longtubes
H-Pipe with 20 series flowmaster muffler and SLP LM1 resinators.
Comp cam mutha thumper camshafts,
Ported and polished heads
SCT tuner tuned by John Lund
And Eibach lowering springs

Any suggestions of affordable power gains? I want to go forced induction but I don't have $6,000 for a blower. Any suggestions from you 3-Valve guys, because I am new to the 4.6 coming from an old 5.0.

Honestly, change out those Motha Thumps for some FRPP Hot Rod Cams Or Brenspeed Detroit Rockers. (Preferably the latter.) New gears in the rear end, 4.10's. Since you have the manual you already have 3.53's, so going to 3.73's wouldn't make a huge difference. Some Charge Motion Plates , and maybe some Underdrive pulleys. all of that should help you make between 35-50 more horsepower.

Detroit Rockers-$800
4.10's- $150
Charge Motion Plates-$280
Underdrive Pulleys-$250

Estimated Labor- $1500
Misc- $500(Gear Kit, Shipping, Etc)

Total- $3500

Not too shabby, but don't just take my advice on this. I would mostly recommend those Detroit Rocker Cams and the Rear gears. The cams alone will boost your power 26-32 rwhp(Brenspeeds dyno numbers) Motha thumps are mostly for sound.

I am ordering under drive pulleys tomorrow, my buddy gave me a set of 4.10's with the car. The only thing is, it's a daily driver and my gas mileage would decrease even more. I love the sound of the cams in it now. Would either of the ones you suggested sound like that? Plus, cams are pretty expensive. I'm only 17, so I kind of have to go one mod at a time.

Yes, the Brenspeed and FRPP cams have the same old school rumble. Brenspeeds sound really good. Check out youtube for some clips. As far as gas mileage, the 4.10's would drop it some. If you don't want to lose that, then stick with what you have or get some 3.73's. And if you don't want those 4.10's, I know someone who would buy them off of you in a heart beat! (This Guy, lol.) But honestly, save up for those Brenspeeds, you'll love them man. Best power gains and still that old school muscle rumble.

I am going to swap the 4.10's and use them for maybe a week and see how I like them, performance wise and money wise. If I don't like them I will sell them to you. I will look up those cams on YouTube.

Once you swap them, you won't want to go back, lol. I'm telling you, totally different car with those. Especially if you're using a 93 race tune. But if you decide you don't like them, hit me up man. I live right on the Mississippi State Line in Louisiana. Little town called Bogalusa.

Lol that's the problem, people go to YouTube for cam advice, save yourself the embarrassment and look up dyno numbers instead, they all sound good that's irrelevant

I've got cai, tune, UD pulleys, charge motion delete plates, high flow cats, Steeda cams, 4.10 gears. I average 18.9 mpg around the city, 24.5 highway. Gears aren't gonna kill your mpg

When I got the Steeda, I was gonna drop to 3.73s. But for what? Another .5-1mpg?

What tune are you using when you get that gas mileage? This may sound stupid, but what are charge motion delete plates? Like I said, I'm new to the 4.6

They are part of your air intake system. They Delete plates get rid of the butterfly valves in your stock plates. This helps get rid of the obstruction of the butterflies allowing more air to flow through them. You'll gain up to about 10HP. But as low as 5.

I'm not sure what tune my car has in it. My car was tuned by Steeda when it was built

I looked on AM and didn't see them. I think I'm going to order a 100 shot nitrous kit too.

That's the link for it. All you have to do it go to the search box and type in 'charge motion delete plates' and it pops up

Okay awesome. Will they have any adverse affects with nitrous?
