3.31 --> 4.10 can't wait!

Alright 4.10s sitting quietly in my garage waiting to be installed by local shop. Can't wait!
2006 GT auto, find it a little slow off the line for me so 4.10 should fix that.

It seemed great with the old hard stock tires, it would burn thru first and get sideways thru half of second.
Bought new tires 255 45 18 and now it grabs much better but it's not as fun
Ya ya I know, if your spinning your not moving, but it's just a fun car so I like to be able to smoke em when I get the urge.

Unfortunately local shop says they are booked for 2 weeks so going to hear about install date on Tuesday. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long, I'm not good at waiting.

Bought 4.10s, install kit, and royal purple and friction modifier so I think I have everything. Already have a tuner, cai and 94 race.

Spent hours and hours debating 3.73 or 4.10 and decided on the 4.10 because i saw some people with 373 saying they wished they had 410. But didn't see many people not liking the 410 especially with an auto.
Looking forward to some fun once they are in, I should see a difference, right?

Do not worry. You will be happy. I made the same jump with a 5 speed. Makes a world of difference. Now you just have to get an offroad pipe. I am averaging 21.5 mpg with 70/30 driving.

Could not believe how many mpg's the cats were robbing me of.

That'll be a jump but not as much as stock to 3.73 or 4.10 but you'll for sure tell the difference

Will do, i was at the garage for an open house/car show on the weekend. Talked to one of the mechanics he said they are booking into mid June now... I hate waiting. He's supposed to contact me Tuesday (Canadian holiday today) with a date they can do it.

I grew up driving the older push rod engines which had more bottom end so the 331 gear seems sluggish. 373 would probably be good enough, but hey if I'm going to do it I might as well do 410s.

I don't plan on fi, if I need 400 hp I will trade it for a 5.0 later. I usually only keep a car for about 5 years. In the mean time the 410s should make me happy, not to mention I can still do cams and other mods.

My year model is stock with 3.55's? Or do you mean stock as in no mods?

3.55s were a option in the 07's. I've had 4.10s in my Cobra and swapped the 3.55s in the 07 for 4.10s.......love them. The 3.73s in my 2011 are alright but I would rather have 4.10s.

My 07 came with 3.55 but was an option. I'm thinking about swapping them.

I don't think I would have gone more than 3:73. The 5R55S has a short 1st and 2nd gear. The trans is going to be doing a lot of shifting if you vary speeds. Most people say don't fear the gear but that was mostly true in the older new edge cars, SN95s and foxes. If you want a significant improvement in performance with the 5R55S, going for a 3200 stall torque converter would have done it, you could keep the 3:31s for fuel economy and the converter would have allowed you to come screaming off the line.

Dunno, I guess I'll find out. I see a lot more people doing gears in these cars instead of tc. So I never really considered it, the only people that I read that went with a tc was for drag racing. I'm looking for a fun daily driver, I'm rarely on the hwy for more than 10 mins.

Doing gears IMO is a hold over from the older days when Mustangs had less power and the gearing in the transmissions was underwhelming like the old 4R70W. You really needed gearing, even in the manual new edges you needed some because of the 3:27 gears that they came with. We've got more power and a better powerband with better gearing, the money IMO would be better spend on a torque converter. It isn't just about launching on drag strips.

Ever since I went cammed, I've been wishing I had a stall converter because its real choppy at idle. Even if I went to lower gearing, it wouldn't stop the cam from trying to spool up the converter.

Changing tune for 4.10 will correct speedo.
Check with Bashol. He's in Joliet.

I was debating whether 4.10 or 4.30, but I don't know whether to finish the exhaust or get LCA/UCA , springs , and gears installed at once

I wasn't going to try to be rude or argue, but my car came with 3.55's. I even have a sticker on the diff cover to prove it! Haha. I just didn't want it to come across as me trying to talk trash because people get offended too easily on here.

No problem, I don't have the illusion of always being right. I learn something new on here everyday.

I'm glad you look at it that way because many people don't. I am always learning new stuff on here. Especially being young, it's nice to be able to learn things from people with more experience.

I have learned that one of the best ways to learn is talking to older people who have experience.
