Push Button Start

I just spent the past hour installing a push start button from AM in my car and ran into a snag. I've got a 2005 Mustang GT. I spliced the wires from the push button harness with the GREEN wire in the ignition and the other with what I thought was a white wire and now I'm thinking it is actually a light yellow wire.

So the wire I spliced into is either light yellow or white. If it is white, then something is wrong with the switch. Or is the wire light yellow. And if the wire is light yellow, then where is the white wire I'm supposed to splice into? Ay help is much appreciated.

Cut GREEN wire. Attach green wire to eithor wire of the engine start push-button pigtail it does not matter which one. WHITE wire splice into this wire whit the remaining wire coming from the ingine start push-button pigtail. DO NOT CUT THIS WHITE WIRE.

Thanks Montreal. I've been all over YouTube and the Internet. No luck. I spoke with someone at Ford and they aren't sure why my car has a yellow wire with white tracer instead of a white wire. I have a hard time accepting that my car is the only Mustang out there with a different wire color.

It doesn't make sense hat there is NO white wire.

Already watched about 10 different videos, and on top of that the install was done properly. The problem is that I don't have a white wire in my car. It is yellow with a white tracer. I talked to a technician at Ford racing and he said that there should be a white wire in the number one spot on the connector. For some reason on my car there is a yellow wire with a white tracer in the number one spot in the connector. What I cannot figure out is why isn't there a white wire? Why is it yellow with a white tracer?

I'm about to just give up on this project. I hate to quit, but the fact that I have a different colored wire really concerns me. And I just installed a second switch using the yellow wire with white tracer and it's still not working. Nobody at Ford or even Ford Racing can help me and I really don't have time to keep screwing with this. American Muscle sold it to me and they can't figure out what the hell is wrong. Unless somebody else out there knows something that nobody else does.

Put back the green wire you cut like it was before and just splice in to it this way you coud start the car with the key like before or with the push-button. If that does not work you have a other problem. Are you sure you have pin #1 White. pin #7 Green.

I finally got it figured out. The crappy inline splices that came with the kit weren't making good contact. It's all good now. Still don't know why the wire is a different color. But it works now and that's all that matters. Thanks for all the advise everyone.

Truth is that I installed this push button starter because my 5 year old always wants to start the car and now he can just hit the button in the dash. All the headache installing this was worth it when he got all excited this evening because he got to start Dads car.

We had a memorial get together for my father that passed two days ago and my mothers birthday. My nephew Rease always asks to start my car. Think it made his year to let him start her up and give a couple revs.
