GT500 conversion!!

So I'm looking to convert my basically stock 06 gt to a gt500 which means a new front/rear bumper cover, and a hood.

Contemplating pulling the trigger on the two thousand dollar kit from American muscle. But I'd like to get some input from those who have already done it.

Where do I start? Is there a cheaper way?

I think that $2K kit is for just the front Fascia you would still need to buy the Hood and rear bumper Fascia to complete the transformation

I figured that much, it just seems strange that the rear bumper cover runs for 380 something and the front is a whopping 2k. Is there a cheaper alternative? Maybe sourcing the parts from ford?

IMO i wouldnt do that unless you are gonna atleast supercharge or Turbo it. Most people i know laugh at the guys who make their car look like something its not without having somethig to back it up. Just a thought. But at the end of the day, its your car and you do what makes you happy bud!

Yeah not downing your gt cause I wish I had the newer gt models. I'd be happy with that. I have literally seen a 2006 mustang gt with a snake in place of gt on side And they even put it on backwards lol. Be happy with the gt and use that money to mod it!!

i agree with the F/I part to some degree, would be nice to have something under the hood

but...

I love how the GT500 looks I've seen couple of cars with the conversion not in person but photos and such and I have to admit they look great.

I cannot afford a GT500 now but if i had a S197 I would def do it. I just wouldn't lie when asked if it were a real Shelby. I'd probably avoid the cobra emblems on the side and score some powered by ford one's like the shelby gts to look different. but nothing wrong with using them if You like them.

but that's just me. Like someone said at the end it's up to you. I've seen this debate for ppl doing LS6 swaps on their FRC vettes and branding them with the Z06 emblem, brake ducts etc but that's getting off the point .

If you have the funds do it! and post pics! good luck either way

Thanks all, I was actually gonna remove the emblems all together and let people wonder LOL. Honestly I just wanted to go with the GT500 kit because I love the lines. I'd love to supercharge it but it seems like that would require some MAJOR funds

Less then that I've been looking pretty hard at the Brenspeed Paxton Throwback kit $3999 for the complete kit not bad for an entry level centri you can add the intercooler down the road for even more HP

Wow, anymore info on this kit? Maybe a link? I love the idea of a reliable relatively low cost supercharger kit. Would it require an engine rebuild?

How difficult would it be to intercool one of these kits?

they sell an intercooler upgrade kit that you can add later if you deside you want one or you could buy the Novi 2200 kit that already come's with the intercooler just costs more upfront My plan is to start with the base kit then add the intercooler sometime down the road. But I should be able to make low to mid 400 HP at the wheels with the base kit I should be happy with that and I would not need to go with forged internals at that HP level
intercooler upgrade

I'm thinking the same, seems like a quality kit. But I would be looking to intercool mine so I can run lower boost. Gotta wonder what the noise level is on one of these. Who doesn't love that whine.

I was actually just thinking about how the CS front bumper would look with a silver intercooler in it. I think I've found a new direction.

Can anyone attest to the noise levels of a centrifugal supercharger?

Gonna go ahead and start a new thread because this one is a long way from what the title suggests.
