Have you raced a Neon SRT-4?

I have these guys I went to school with and they insist their modded SRT-4s will BLOW ME AWAY! No questions asked. I have done a racing CAI, BBK throttle body, muffler deletes, and a custom tune from my local shop Speedo-motive. Which claims he makes the BEST tunes available no questions asked. Do what do you think? Think I can take them or will they smoke me?? Thanks

If they have more than just the basic mods, you will likely lose. My friend had a stock SRT4 and was running 13.5 @ 104 (hell of a driver) and put down a little over 230whp.

He then did the Mopar stg 3 and was running 12.8 @ 110 and was upsetting a lot of mustang and f-body owners.

I will say that this SRT4 had no issues walking another friends 01 Mustang GT, with full exhaust, KN intake, tune and either 3.55 or 3.73 gears. It was close from a dig through first gear, then the SRT would just walk away, easily. From a 40 roll, the SRT4 simply raped the Mustang.

So take that for what it is. The modded SRT4's surprise a lot of people.

I had a friend who had a stage 2 srt4 when I had my STi, and my stock STi would take him easily from a dig, and especially around corners. That car under steered like no other car I've ever witnessed when pushed hard.

I've raced one STI and smoked him. Raced One noob srt 4 and smoked him. But these guys are decent drivers and have nothing to spend money on but their gay *** neons. And I raced a vette C6 and hung right in there with him nose to nose the whole way.

Must have been the first year SRT4 (2003) as they had an open differential and were notorious for blowing through corners when under power. The later years (2004, 2005) had a Quaife LSD which fixed that. The 04-05 are honestly damn impressive handlers for a front wheel drive car.

I don't believe an srt4 is going to rape a 05+ gt, gonna have to prove me wrong. My buddy's 2010 srt8 challenger could barely get me in the 1/4, and not always.

A srt4 stock runs the same time that a 3v gt does stock. The srt4 could easily put a hurting on a 3v

Yea actually I know more than you as you are the one asking the question.. I seen alot of srt4 beat the hell out of my gt and other gts.. if you're going to get offended by people's answers don't ask questions.. and I didn't say you have a little sixxer.

You are exactly right. It was the first year srt4.

OP don't ask questions if you don't want the answer... Yes a truly modded SRT 4 will blow your car out the water... You barley have any mods... Don't put money on your car because unless he's a shorty driver I'd bet my car my wife's car and my future kids you will be shot out the sky!

Your car makes 300 +/- hp and weighs 3700#. A decently modded neon srt4 makes 250+/- hp and weighs 2900#. If they can drive the notoriously squirrely fwd you will lose, especially from a roll.

Do you have any idea what mods the car actually has?

You do realize that best case scenario for you staying even remotely close would be if that was an early C6 with an LS2 and a 4 spd auto or an absolutely crap driver if it were a 6spd. If that were the case, the vette if it were stock would likely be putting down around 340 - 360 whp (depending on auto or 6spd) . So the power advantage plus the weight advatage (C6 weighs around 3200lbs) means that you should have lost. Seeing as your car is likely putting down around 280whp and weighs at least 3500lbs, you're giving the vette the advantage of about 50whp and 300lbs less weight.

If it were an LS3 C6, the only time it should be close would be at the starting line. If it was really that close, the driver of the vette was either toying with you or they suck so bad at life that they should be taken out into the woods and disembowled with a wooden cooking spoon.

If this race is just bolt on vs bolt on, it is going to be a drivers race. If you know how to drive, you'll take him by a half car. If he out-drives you, then you will lose by a half car. Powershift like a beast and you'll take him. Come on man....Its a damn Dodge. Go whoop his a$$.

Touchy touchy... Are you still a teenager or a short guy that got picked on a lot when you were younger because you sound to me like to have a complex of some sort the way you are snapping back at people that tend to know a thing or two.

Beating an STI is very possible in a s197. As for a c6, no way.
