I have an '06 GT automatic with 4.10 gears and fuel mileage is much worse than 1-2 MPG less than stock. Don't get me wrong, I love the instant acceleration, but to try to say that 4.10 gears won't hurt street manners is false. Highway driving is fine, as long as you don't mind listening to the whine as your motor cruises along at 3,000 RPM at 70 MPH. With a 5-speed auto with overdrive, revs would be much lower and fuel mileage would be much better with a sane, stock rear gear. My car is not a daily driver. It's a 2006 with 20,441 miles on the clock as I write this. If I wanted to use this for a daily driver, I'd change the rear to something a little more reasonable. The 4.10 is a fantastic gear for romping around. You punch it and the car jumps RIGHT NOW, while throwing you back in your seat. I wish Gear Vendors would make an overdrive that I could put on this car because then I could have the best of both worlds. Does anyone out there make an aftermarket overdrive for this car? I can't find one.

You have an auto which is 4 spd meaning 1 less gear than a manual so you're revs are higher. You notice worse mileage I'm sure because the way you drive now with the feel of torque.

Fuel mileage shouldn't even be mentioned when talking about putting 4.10s in something. If you're putting 4.10s in anything chances are its a high powered vehicle. High power = low mpgs.

So 4.10's on an automatic 06 GT wouldn't hurt the mpg? Or would it
