Used 5/20 for the first 6 years never had a problem on my stock GT. Switch to RP 5/30 last year good oil but I like Amsoil 5/30 better and it drinks less with 5/30. I don't now if they are still working for ford but there are engineers. But the FRPP group is still there.

So on my 07 GT I should use 5-30? It has 67,000 miles and I like I dive it hard! Lol

Nothing new. They've been jockeying around the weights since the mid 70's. Personally, I'll continue to use the LIGHTEST possible weight everywhere that I can, for the exact reason that Ford recommends it. TO SAVE MONEY ON FUEL COSTS.

You are in a way correct, yet not really, the 99-00 Mustangs had 5w30 recommended, but 01-04 Mustangs have 5w20, only reason Ford made the switch was to meet cafe standards, even though all 99-04's have the same engines. If you're gonna stick to the lightest oil possible then go ahead, I'll stick to what the Ford engineers say is best and keep my car running better, I'm not going to compromise my engine to save a couple bucks on gas.

I've been using 5w-30 since I bought it on accident and the local mustangs club said that it was fine.
