OEM Strut Tower Brace

I totally caved! After promising my wife that Mustang mods would be performance-based, I saw this, and HAD to have it!! Can't beat the price, and it looks better than most out there.

Hope that isn't for your S197. Looks like that strut tower brace is made for 2011-2014 GTs.

It is the OEM brace from a 2013. From looking at AM, and other sites, apparently they're the same size. If it doesn't happen to fit, I'll sell it to someone else for more than I paid. Oh, how I hope it fits, though....

I'm basing it on looking at AM's braces for GT's from 2005-2014. If I'm wrong, I should be able to re-sell it for at least what I paid ($99). I could easily be wrong, though. Here's hoping...

You were absolutely right! It doesn't fit. The geometry is right for the actual strut towers, but it doesn't clear the intake manifold. My guess is the braces listed on AM and other stores are designed to have more clearance over the manifold, so they are interchangeable for different years. This one, not so much. Dammit!

Anyone want a brace from a 2013 GT?

For the record, I had an epiphany in my sleep the other night. The geometry for the brace is correct, but it needed to be lifted up over the intake manifold.
The solution was 5/16" x 7/8" Coupling Nuts. Threaded down over the strut-mount bolt, then 5/16" x 1/2" bolts through the brace, and into the Coupling Nut. The result is lifting the ends of the brace almost 1", leaving a solid 1/4" clearance between the brace and the manifold.

It's for appearance only, but it works.

Well if you want the actual use out of it then i'd get the proper one. But if you don't mind it not doing what its supposed to do then i would leave it its not too noticeable that its messed up.

It's temporary. Eventually, I'm upgrading the top end of my motor, so a new manifold will included. That brace will go.

I have the full 4 nut attachments on each side tower brace I bought from AM and WoW! The difference it makes in cornering and handling is amazing from not having one.

Take a look at my picks.
