Upgrade a 2007 GT or purchase a 2011

I have an 2007 GT and looking into a supercharger. I have looked at the costs of 650 rwhp and the numbers tell me to sell the 07, purchase a 2011, and put a Kenne Bell stage 2 supercharger.

Here are my numbers that I came up with

2007 (18K miles Shelby GT auto) worth 19 - 22,000

New Short block 5,000
Kenne Bell 2.6L 6,300
168mm TB 100
Injectors 350
Fuel Pumps 1,000
Drive Shaft 800
Stall Converter 1,200
Misc 1,000
Labor 3,500

2011 GT (10-20K miles 20,000 - 25,000)

Kenne Bell 2.8LC 6,600
stage 2 800
Stall Converter 1,200
drive shaft 800
4.10 gears 300
Labor 1,800

I love my Shelby but it may up for sale very soon....

Let me know what you think... Upgrade or Sell?

IMO I would keep and mod your Shelby I like the Shelby's I think in the long run it will be worth more to just my opinion but if you want to hit that 650 mark you might need that 2011 5.0

I'd get the 11' personally. Save some money and get a newer car. You would hit your goal quicker. So unless your absolutely attached to your 07', trade her In! I don't think the resale value will be a big deal on your Shelby. Most people that would be collecting them in 20+ years, are gonna want them stock anyways. Correct me if I'm wrong, but its just a body kit and some badges on a GT, IIRC.

Build the 07. It'll be your customized ride the way you want it and say Shelby on it. IMO

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is more to this than just hp. I would figure the shelby would have better suspension, rear, gears, control arms, etc I would take the older shelby over a Newer GT.

5.0 all day any day

The 5.0 is the best platform Ford has ever put in a stock mustang. There is SOOO much potential in that motor. For the money it's a no brainer to go with the newer 5.0. The Shelby is nice but a modded 5.0 is nasty

I doubt you will get that much for your Shelby! It will probably be more like 16 to 17 grande for it but if a dealership already told u those numbers than I would say trade it in but I would rather have a Shelby than a newer gt but that's just mine opinion.

Yeah dont confuse the shelby mustang gt to the shelby gt500. The gt was just like the mustang gt, with a few more ponies and some mild mods. It's a cool car in that it's still a bit more unique than the mustang, but the gt500 is instantly noticeable and a lot more powerful. Get inside the cockpit of a new coyote stang, and you'll know that's the best choice .

My wife works for a Ford dealership. Selling the Shelby is not the problem, I really like the look of the Shelby but putting 18K into the engine is really hard.

Maybe I should keep the Shelby and look for 2011 GT with some miles on it. We all need a pair in the stable, right?

Dude, if you can keep yours and grab an 11' that's literally, and I'm quoting Van Halen here, The Best of Both Worlds!

Yeah, keep that Shelby until you're an old man driving around a rare 00's classic.

idk depends on what u really want im on the fence too, mine supercharged 10.5 psi o/r h intake cooling mods 3.55 gear made 440hp450trq at the wheels if your trying to make 650s on a 4.6l block cant hold it... number that goes around the internet is little over 500 before rods go... and then even if u build the motor going to have to religh more than just boost to get 650s out of a 4.6l..

on the other hand 5.0!!! supercharger 6.500 whipple or 4,500 paxton throw injectors and 10psi ur looking at 650s very easy

A newer 5.0 will allow you to quickly get more HP and the ride/interior quality will be much better...get the '11.
