Inspection sticker in austin, tx

I need to get my car inspected but have an off road pipe with my check engine light on. Any one know of a place or someone that will inspect my car. I'm willing to pay extra. I'm in austin, tx

Thanks

Dude you're in the greenest tree hugging part of the state. Do you have sniff test or just visual?

just call around and ask if they check exhaust...I've never had my exhaust checked, in my home town, and in Waco...

I thought Houston and parts of Dallas were the only sniff tests. You can check the TxDOT website for counties that require a sniff test. It depends on the county you park in. If you're just worried about about visual, I'm not sure they check that much.

Here ya go copied from the website:

The following vehicles need to undergo emissions testing:
The rules for emissions testing are different in different counties. The following counties require vehicles to undergo emissions testing: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, Williamson and El Paso counties.
All gasoline powered vehicles need to undergo emissions testing.
All vehicles from 2 through 24 years old need to carry out emissions testing. Even upon expiration of the 2 year initial inspection sticker the test needs to be conducted.

So does that mean that they just do a test to see the o2 sensors are working or do they just look to see if you have cats? Or both? Thanks for all the input from everyone

From reading the info on the website they do a OBDII test. So they check for codes on modern cars. Not sure if they see the O2 s turned off or not.

A buddy of mine said that if you unplug the battery it resets everything for a short amount of time, I'm wondering if it would be enough to get past the inspection? Any thoughts?

If the codes are reset, then it throws a P1000 codes indicating a reset until you drive a little bit and over 60. Not sure if it will work. There should be a local mustang club in Austin. Someone there would know.

If you turn off the O2s it won't throw a code, but if they see they're turned off then you're screwed.
